The Official 2013-2014 NBA Thread

I'm loving the way Wiggins is playing in summer league. Dude had a sweet spin move into a dunk yesterday a long way from the hoop. I'm not sure I would give him up yet for Kevin love. I have a feeling they could average same amount of points and close in rebounds but Wiggins in his college days knows how to play Defense

Brian Windhorst@WindhorstESPN 1m AP reporting Wade will take 2-year deal with 2nd year option with Heat, which would give him flexibility & possible raise next year.

LOL...A raise did he get new Knees?

i seen that spin play to dunk highlight today of Wiggins. Pretty cool!

2 years and 5.5M for Miller to the cavs

Wiggins had an awesome block on Noel too. Good to know I am not the only one watching the summer league.

I watched some Summer League and thought man this guy looks great. Decided to look up last year's stats. Im just not sure it translates to what happens in the league any more than college does.

can the Cavs money wise get Ray Allen as well?

If he signs for the minimum. I believe you can basically always sign a player for the minimum regardless of cap situations.

Odd how things come full circle. In 2010, the cavs completed a sign n trade to send LeBron to Miami and in return they got a future first round pick. Fast forward to 2014 and LeBron leaves Miami for Cleveland, mike miller joins the cavs and is getting paid $6.6 million my Miami to play for Cleveland and the Cavs get Miami's first round pick this year

Lance Stephenson to the Hornets for 3yrs/$27m. I think that is a great signing by them especially since the 3rd year is a team option.

It absolutely is. And considering what other numbers are going for some guys, it's a "bargain". If he didn't talk during the playoffs, I bet that number is $10 mill more overall.

Turned down 5yrs $44mil ($8.8 mill/year) because he felt he was under valued. And then signs 3yrs/$27mil ($9mil/yr) lol things that make me scratch my head

Good point! Sounds kind of strategic if you think about it. Having a team with a first round pick AND having the best NBA player on the same team is very rare. The way it all worked out was great for Cleveland. Bonus!

Ya the Cavs lucked into their situation for sure. But they aren't guaranteed anything yet. It's gonna be an interesting rest of the offseason

The Miami pick is protected, which takes a bit off of its value. However, I don't think that Miami will finish in the bottom 10 of the league this year, so Cleveland will likely see that pick for the next draft. Regardless, a first rounder is a first rounder although it is that much more hit or miss outside the top 10 or lottery.

Not as much of a head scratcher when you think about how much more money could be earned in 3 years.
If he gets better, that is a big raise and a chance at max deal (playing for a team that needs his talents).
New deal could lead to more money.

Right. I guess the days of long term contracts are dwindling away. Most guys in the past would take the longer contracts especially if the money is that close

Very true. Now it's all about going anywhere to latch onto a ring and get paid the most. Nothing wrong with it mind you, but sports and loyalty are just not there from anybody anymore.

On a jersey note, looks like all teams who have won a championship will get a gold tab on the back of their jersey. And the NBA logo is moving to the back of the jersey, as well, right above the name plate. I like the movement of the NBA logo, but I am indifferent to the gold tab. Doesn't really do anything for me.
