What are you reading?

Reading Bernard Cornwell's The Last Kingdom, a well written historical fiction on the Viking Raids of England. Highly recommend.

See What Others Don't - by Gary Klein

Jenn tried to get me to read those, I refused. Although after seeing the movie, I have thought about it.

The movie is why I read the first one, I've finished the first 2 books now in like 6 days.

How far into the series are you?

I haven't read any of them but a buddy offered his books. He couldn't make it through the second book no matter how hard he tried. He's the type that reads a book in 2 to 3 days so it surprised me

Finished #2 last night, about 2 and half evenings. I liked it a lot.

I'll withhold my thoughts on the Divergent series until you're done reading them.

Finished them, I enjoyed them, the third was the hardest to read for me because of the perspective change. And, well...

Back to classics for me now, in two nights I've read half of 1984. So good.

I lived 1984. With my parents' history, it gives me the chills.

Its one that I was FORCED to read in HS and hated, but now, its a solid read. But definitely creepy, even more so when one looks at the world around us. I think Animal Farm is up next for me, then Lord of the Flys.

I read Lord of the Flies last year when commuting. I hadn't read it before and really liked it.

Animal Farm is also a solid one.

Essay by George Orwell: You and the Atomic Bomb

We were once told that the aeroplane had ‘abolished frontiers’; actually it is only since the aeroplane became a serious weapon that frontiers have become definitely impassable. The radio was once expected to promote international understanding and co-operation; it has turned out to be a means of insulating one nation from another. The atomic bomb may complete the process by robbing the exploited classes and peoples of all power to revolt, and at the same time putting the possessors of the bomb on a basis of military equality. Unable to conquer one another, they are likely to continue ruling the world between them, and it is difficult to see how the balance can be upset except by slow and unpredictable demographic changes.

read 2 books by Dr. Bob Rotella (golf isnt a game of perfect and your 15th club). in the process of reading his book Unstoppable golfer.

The Matheny Manifesto

Halfway thru book 4 of Game of Thrones

A Work In Progress, Rene Redzepi. He is the Chef at Noma, "the best restaurant in the world" he documented an entire year in journal form and paired it with a book of snapshots and a cookbook. So far it an excellent insight into the process of one of the best in the world.

I'm currently reading The boys in the boat: nine Americans and their epic quest for gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. So far a very interesting read.

I was disappointed with James Patterson's Miracle at Augusta. I think if it didn't have his name behind it no one would publish it.

Currently reading "The Martian" by Andy Weir. I'm kind of hot-and-cold with it; the humor and prose are great, but the science mumbo-jumbo is pretty boring (and over my head). Anyone ever read it?

Finished the first two in the divergent series in a weekend, ordered the 3rd with low expectations.
