How do you feel about the change from the 770 to the 790? I play 790s and just scored a set of 770s for a great price and was thinking about a combo set 8-pw. At the same time I can't bring myself to pull any of the 790 out! What problems are you having with your scoring irons? Do you have any huge distance inconsistencies? Great bag by the way!
Big changes coming to my bag! Here are some pictures of the New Level M-Type wedges I recently acquired. Replacing the TM MG in 50/54. I find these new wedges to be very versatile on full and partial shots. I have become very critical of turf interaction and these wedges shine at that. The 50 has just 7 of bounce and is wonderful on tight lies. On chip and runs varying the flight very easily. It is also good on chip and runs of the green. That has become very useful. Both with Modus 115 wedge shafts. The 54 is actually a 56-12 that is bent to 54. It also lowered the bounce to around 10. Love how it works out of the sand and on all shots. More to come on these.

Also in the wedge part of my bag, picked up a new TM Hi-Toe wedge. It is a 60* with the new 4 way grind. Added a Modus 115 wedge shaft. Have yet to hit this combination! Here are a couple of pictures. Obviously A LOT more to come on this wedge.

I have some New Level 902 irons arriving on Monday. I have had P-770 irons in the bag for 2 seasons. I do really like them in terms of feel and performance. But with TM discontinuing the 770/750 line, it gave a chance to test other irons. The first will be the 902's. They have a gorgeous shape and are forged out of carbon steel. Check and check on my list of requirements. Paired these up with Modus 105 stiff shafts. I will be 60 years old soon so, I am trying to be mindful of shaft and loft needs. I will compare these directly to the 770's.
And to those who ask why not go something more forgiving/SGI/GI, I tried a set of 790 irons and had good results with the 4-7 irons. The 4 iron will stay in my bag as a driving iron. The 5-7 gave me good gains, but the gap between 7 and 8 iron was almost 20 yards. I could have adjusted the lofts and I felt that would have been ok but would/could screw up what I liked about the turf interaction. And that is a box I HAVE to check to keep a set of irons in the bag. It quickly eliminates most SGI/GI iron sets. Also, the 8-PW has a bit of a numb feel to me. More to come as I get out next week with the 902's.
