Bag Boy Nitron Push Cart

-snip-

I would prefer the brake to unlock by pushing it away from you instead of pulling it towards you and didn’t really try out the umbrella holder.

Yes, it's sort of counterintuitive but my big gripe is with the braking mechanism itself. The identical system on my old BB Automatic broke when the cable snapped and this one already (I have it slightly over a year) feels like it might go. The lever seems to be "loosening up" (and not in a good way) and I just don't have much confidence in the system as a whole. I still am very happy with the cart/bag combo, though; cart really folds up into a nice small package and the Top-Lok keeps the bag secure without straps.

It's just that brake.......

The upgraded umbrella holder definitely is a great option for most golfers to allow for easy shade and rain protection.

First up is the view from a tall player maybe in the mid 6’ range showing what your vision would be with the handle in a comfortable position for someone that tall.

The second photo is where I’ll play most my rounds at being roughly 6’. Vision is great and it’s quite easy to move in and out of the cover.

Look internally at the clamping mechanism to hold the umbrella securely in place.

Thanks for taking the measurements! Looks like I'll need to fab something up, no biggie.

Walked 18 this morning and can say it’s a very nice cart and has everything placed where you’d want.
Pros:
Top-Lok (love, love, love this zero straps for life)
Ease of club removal without bumping the handle or storage area.
Scorecard holder and pencil holder.
Stability
Break strength
Opening before round
Closing after round
Cons:
Break handle direction. Did the guy punch multiple times.
Wobble in axles on rear wheels. Have a little slop that wobbles and bounces about a bit but nothing near deal breaking.

After round I’ll adjust the tracking a bit more as it veers right slightly now but nowhere near before.

I like everything about it but the narrow top lok. My staff beg is too wide so it rests against the clamps. Works fine but is definitely chafing the bag.

Since your bag doesn’t have top lock tech on it why not flip the bag holder arms over and use the straps? That should stop the chafing.

My wife was nice enough to share her thoughts on my Nitron with me this morning. She said, and I quote: “why is this thing still in our living room?”

I do have them flipped open but it‘s still too narrow. It sits against the open arms. I use the strap on the bottom. Works fine, other than the chafing.

Look what showed up and is ready for reviews

Ok for the sand bottle there are 2 spots to put it so you don't have to add more attachment points.

The bag fits the cart and sand bottle nicely

Both umbrella holder on Nitron
20220917_191806.jpg

From floor to bottom of band with standard holder is 54.25"
20220917_191234.jpg

Upgraded holder to same point is 57.5" So 3.25" difference with new holder.

The important tests. 20oz hydroflask bottle, 30oz RTIC tumbler, 30oz Yeti Tumbler, and 30oz Hydroflask Tumbler.

Also 2 things I think the Clicgear did better than the Nitron. First a spot for tees. Seems silly but I love have those on the ready. The second is this cart is hanging up on the wall and that ball ain't going nowhere. (Pardon that grammar :ROFLMAO:)

2 technologies that don't work well together. :ROFLMAO:

I was on the hype train for the low rider tech from Callaway on their most recent bags. It was going to work well with my clicgear and I didn't have to use the bag cozy anymore. Well when paired with the Top-Lok Nitron they counter act each other.

First up if I leave the straps open, the legs would fit perfectly in the top lock but they sit below the Top-Lok guards so your bag will move around while in the cart.

Next if I use the straps then the bag sits a little more proud from the saddle and the legs are still below guards.

I never thought I would talk about umbrellas this much in my life. I think this is the last post I will have that is purely talking about the umbrella usage on a push cart.

I never knew my clicgear had storage for an umbrella. When I actually found it I see that what Bag Boy did on the Nitron is so much easier to use and faster to retrieve and put away.

First the Clicgear. Here it is the umbrella stored on the cart.

At the base you can see it is the same type of fabric that you would see on most of your golf bags. Tried and true but I had to bend down and put the end of the umbrella into the loop.

20220918_075308.jpg

Now on top it is a piece of velcro that you can cinch the umbrella in tight with. So you pretty much have to get the umbrella set up in the bottom loop first then cinch up the velco to attach to the cart. When removing you have to undo the velcro and pull out of the loop on the bottom.

20220918_075312.jpg

Here is the Nitron. Umbrella sits in the exact same location.
20220918_075346.jpg

On top is an elastic loop that you don't need to tighten. The umbrella slides in and out pretty easily.

20220918_075350.jpg

Once the umbrella is through the upper loop you just have to find the hole on the base of the cart. It just fits in there, no bending over to get a piece of fabric to work. Super quick and easy.
20220918_075406.jpg

For most this may not be that big of a deal but I see weirdos out there with bags turned sideways and the umbrella if attached to the bag is now in the way. I like the small touch of having the cart store the umbrella out of the way. I only ever started using the umbrella in the desert to get shade. More times it is out to protect me from the sun and not rain. Also I got that umbrella when those were the Astros uniform colors back when they played in the Astrodome. Maybe it is time for a new umbrella. :ROFLMAO:

Final form of how I am going to use push cart.

1. Upgraded umbrella holder
2. Sand bottle
3. Old Clicgear accessory tab attached with extra cup holder for speaker. Technically now I have 3 cup holders. 1 in console, 1 on accessory tab, and 1 on the golf bag where I store my water bottle.
4. Upper straps removed. Use lower straps to keep bag secured.
5. Also this is why it is a must for when I purchase a bag is the shoulder straps are removable. Love that the front of the bag is free of the straps now.

The biggest thing I was looking for improvement on a pushcart is the ability to use a stand bag without a bunch of extra accessories. With the one round at Dormie Club it really showed to me how different the 2 carts were. Now that I have them both at home I really dove in to see what the difference was.

First you can see the front wheel on the Nitron is noticeably smaller than the Clicgear 3.0.

20220918_074707.jpg

On the Nitron with a stand bag the base of the bag sits completely on base of the cart and far away from the front wheel. On the clicgear the only touch point is on the middle of the base of the bag and look how close the base of the bag is to the front wheel.

Front view on clicgear and then with the booster for stand carts.

Front view on the Nitron. Look at that clearance!

I don't have a cart, hybrid, or staff bag so I can't compare how anything else would work between the 2 carts. For a stand bag there is no comparison. The Nitron is head and shoulders better because the Top-Lok system holds the legs in place. The bag isn't totally secured unless you have the Bag Boy or Datrek bags with the Top-Lok system on it but there is some benefit even if you have a different brand bag. Also the bag feels more secure because more of it sits on the base of the cart and there is no chance of rubbing against the front wheel. Excellent design here.

How long does it take to set up a Nitron. Well since the parking lot sloped the answer was 16 seconds.
