Corona Virus/COVID19: Local Impact

Just so you folks know, the Dr. Erikson video I posted before has been pulled from YouTube because it doesn't coincide with govt policy. Imagine, a specialist doctor is censored from social media. What's that tell you folks?

Many others keep posting it. You can suppress the truth no matter how much the left wants to.

Yep, it's ok though. We knew governors did not want to be first. Georgia has taken that step so everyone else will be watching. The best news is we have a guinea pig. Others will have to get in line here in a couple of weeks if things go well. The troops are getting restless.

And Colorado but you don't hear about that in the "news."

Enough with the political blame and talk. We keep saying it and the same few keep ignoring it.

If those actions continue, we will kindly ask to find something else to hang out.

Aaayyyye just in time for 72 and sunny on sunday!

I'm in Mesa County on the west side of the state & we are trying to get thing opened up around here. Of course we have to "permission" form the governor, but our numbers have been extremely low.

and he said last night he was going to try and raise property taxes 30% to cover the damage. That works well. The property owners that are out of work? Here is your new bill
Raising property taxes that much, besides being one of the dumbest things to do right now, would be just a straight-up asking to be removed from office. People can't afford their electric and water bill and you want to raise those same people's property tax 30%? duh

Good read! The amount of common sense and rational thinking in that article is staggering.

I'm originally from Finland so I naturally follow the Nordic situation rather closely and especially the difference between the Nordic countries and strategies chosen. Since this article was written there has been a surge in deaths for Sweden. As it stands today Sweden has a total of 2,462 deaths and Finland 206. Per million of people in translates into 244 vs 36.

The difference in numbers is not surprising since Finland has been in a semi lock-down mode and once society starts to open up number of cases / deaths I'm sure will go up. The interesting thing will be to see where we end up in total numbers once all is said and done. The population density and political landscape is quite similar in both countries so this will offer a good comparison. I believe the numbers will get closer. Then we can make a factual comparison between lives lost vs economic impact. In those calculations we need to bear in mind that all lives are not equal as life expectancy (and thus loss of productivity and quality living years) need to be factored. More bluntly, if mainly older people die it is not as devastating on the economy as if young and healthy die.

"If it pleases the Crown may I exercise freedom and liberty".

You must say this while bowing to your crowned governor.

Hmmmm, okay, what's going on in the world of testing and creating herd immunity in the USA.

I heard a private lab in the USA has made progress ...

Who does this guy think he is? Here he is promoting some company called "Gilead". Likely story. I bet you dollars to donuts, he owns Gilead or is a majority stock holder. Just take this "news" with a grain of salt, we all know Fauci's track record with data. 🙃

Quest Diagnostics offers an antibody test that you can order on their website online. You still have to visit one of their labs for a blood draw. Costs $120. Other companies are coming with similar tests.

I need to check with my wife to see if she wants to go to the lab, I think there is a 50/50 chance she will be on board. She and I are convinced she had it in February.

Other docs besides Fauci, have stated this is good news and promising. At the same time, it needs more testing. I think this bashing of Fauci is a bit much - he is trying a middle ground - not aggressive enough for some, but sobering. When he said sports with fans may need to be postponed this year, that doesn't make anyone happy. I have mini-season tix for Mavs game. Want to go - but Fauci is not the rule of law - he acts as an advisor. Besides, he likes sports. Fauci is not a cheerleader. I do agree with him that we need to accelerate testing and fast.

I am in Massachusetts. We were supposed to start opening on May 4th. Our governor now has pushed that back to May 18th. I need a haircut and would like to play some golf. This is beginning to feel like an abuse of power.

I don't know about all that but it wasn't even a week ago that Forbes published "Leaked Study Data Finds No Benefits Of Remdesivir On Coronavirus Patients, Sending Gilead Stock Tumbling". Fauci said the study from a few days prior that showed no benefits was “not an adequate study” so who knows. In the new, more favorable study it was found to help you get over covid a few days sooner but any difference in mortality "wasn’t statistically significant."

We have started to call our governor the "Emperor of Illinois"

What also was missed was the study was ended because they ran out of participants.

I agree that Fauci has made some large errors, but this trial, coupled with the Chicago one is promising and helps science move forward because they can prove the virus can be effected by pharmaceuticals.

And Davidson County wonders why everyone lives in the surrounding countries? It’s the taxes, stupid.

People aren’t stocking up on meat. Producers are either closing because of Covid among their employees, or just throwing away the surplus because restaurants and schools aren’t buying. Tyson foods announced there will be a shortage because they’ve been eliminating the young chicks because the market has nearly dried up. They aren’t going to pay to raise chickens if they can’t sell them.

We are going to have College Football in the Fall... Fauci can shove it.

Looks like every school on that list is a football power. Okay, okay...maybe one or two of those programs are TRYING to become a football power. :)

Of course they are going to open. No one is going to pay outrageous out of state tuition fees for distance learning.

I don’t really think Missouri is trying too hard. Speaking as an alumnus from that ok institution.

My nephew graduated from Mizzou last spring and agrees with you. Too bad the Big 12 dropped off (strength top to bottom). They should be playing Kansas instead of Georgia.

I like their basketball coach! :)
