Cutting down shaft length on driver

I had my new Callaway XR16 cut down to 45", which is a bit longer than my old driver. I tested several shafts at the standard 45.75" length, but the strikes were all over the face, so after pulling the trigger on the shaft I had them cut it.

Cut my driver down to 44.5 and have never hit it better with no distance lost since I'm hitting the sweet spot more often. I've struggled with a fade/slice for, well, decades to be honest and have tried almost everything to fix it. At almost 6'5" with a 45.5 - 46 inch shaft I could never get the club head squared at impact. Shortening the driver shaft has finally accomplished this...think about "crack the whip"...the person at the end of the whip gets flung all over the place (in physics, the Conservation of Angular Momentum). I wish I would have done this years ago...would have saved a lot of driver anguish.
