No expert here - but if the sand is wet and loose, I'll play it with an open face just like a normal sand shot and try to make sure I get through the ball and keep the club moving. If it's compact and hard, I treat it as if it was a chip off a cart path/bare lie - chipping stance and swing, square face, pick it clean. Trying to get under the ball in hard-packed sand/mud is a very iffy shot - chances are the bounce is going to pop the leading edge up and you're going to skull it and turn a 20-yard shot into a 120-yard shot...or bury the ball in the bunker face in front of you if there is one.How do you guys play these wide soled clubs in the wet or compact sand?
