What cigar did you smoke today?

What'd ya think of the Vision? I thought they were way overrated, most of my buddies hated them outright.

I'm going with my standby San Cristobal this evening, and maybe I'll pick up a Don Pepin "My Father" to try, I should have some time to kill at the cigar shop before going to my buddy's anniversary party this evening.

I kind of liked it, not that I'd run out and get a box. But it had a pretty nice profile and developed in to pretty tasty stick after the first third. They were a freebie last night, but I don't think I'd pay the $11-$14(what ever they are) for them.

I have seen there are mixed opinions on the "My Father", I am sure you read the thread at BOTL.

I just got back from an Oliva event at my bro in laws local shop. I had a V, O, and a nub. I ended up leaving with a box of the O maduros, a hat and a nice sample pack. It was fun, could of done without the last one.

About time I jumped in on this thread. If I recall correctly, JB and I spoke back and forth about this same thing elsewhere, a little while before THP became a reality:>)
Anymore, I have only been smoking the Acid little cigars, though not too often these days. I tried others and I just like these.

Years ago, in the cigar boom, I actually sold cigars at a bar I worked at during college. I literally had 4 big coolers I converted into humidors and would snag good deals and make a killing. (btw, phatash.com used to have amazing deals, not sure anymore)

I do recall, Lars Tetan had a smoke called Grass that was killer, but I haven't been able to find them this year when I started smoking cigars again.

MY favs were the old Romeo Juliettas, before they sold out to another company which makes them today. This would have been back in maybe 2000. I also loved just about anything Funete, especially Opus X! Short stories were good then too.

I used to frequent the casino in Canada, and man, Cubans were truly the best!

I still have a bunch of cigars from around 2000, though I haven't upkept them and they aren't separated so the flavors have melded obviously. I do soak the spanish cedar panels on occasion and refill the hygrometer, but some are cracky and most are likely just bad, though some might be good yet. It is a shame because there are some killer smokes in my humidor!

Smoked a tatuaje gran cojurno and a maximus diamond crown during my round today. This is my second or third maximus now and I must say, they are a nice stick.

The Maximus are pretty good, I think they're a bit spendy though, so I don't get to get them very often.

Today I had a Tatuaje white label on the course, and a Punch over at Mom & Dad's before dinner (pot roast, yum!)

Agreed, good but not 15 dollars good. I think all of the money goes into the label, that thing is huge.

I smoked a Gurkha today on the course that my buddy gave me. I cant tell you which one it was but it had a natural wrapper. When I opened the glass tube the smell of bourbon was a welcome one, however that was all that stick had going for it. The draw was funky and it started coming unwrapped about halfway through. Overall those things are not worth the money.

Was it this one?

If so, you need to take them out of the tube a couple of days before, and let it breathe before smoking. I've got one that Craig gave me a little while back, I'm looking forward to an opportunity to smoke it, it'll be my first Grand Reserve.

Gurkha makes some fantastic sticks, I've smoked a bunch of the Legend, Master Select and Ancient Warrior; and I think that they're all very good smokes.

I had a Triunfidor Lancero on Thursday, that was darned decent. I enjoyed it while watching the Cowboys game in the shop.

I gotta tell ya, it's a darned decent smoke, and I'm not a Lancero fanatic (it's the only size they're available in) I'm contemplating a box of either these, or a box of Illusionne's as my Christmas gift to me.

Those were them. Ill have to grab another one from him and throw it in my box for a couple of days and give it another shot. Do you think that wax keeps a decent amount of air out? Would you age one in the tube or out?

I'd store it in the tube, but take it out a couple of days before you smoke it to let it 'breathe' like you would a bottle of wine.

I wouldn't store it open in my regular humidor, it'll taint the flavors of the rest of your stock (and forever ruin your humidor as well according to some). I keep a small humidor for my wife, since she likes infused cigars from time to time, and that's where I'd put it for a few days.

Ill grab one from him later and put it in my travel humi for a few days. It cant hurt to try it again. Even if I dont like a certain cigar, its rare that I dont enjoy smoking it.

On my five days off I had the Partaga Shorty that Gummi gave me(delicious!!), an Olivia "G", a Java maduro, Tat Havana VI Noble, DPG Cuban Classic, RP Connecticut Toro, and a Cohiba Robusto Fino.

It's actually infused with Luis XIII Cognac(the high dollar stuff), and as Gummi said, it is best to take it out of the tube and let it "air out" for a couple days that way it won't seem as overwhelming. It is not a bad smoke, the first one I had was the Platinum which is more of a churchill size with the Maduro wrapper. I took it right out of the tube and the Cognac was a little strong for my taste, so the next one I had I opened up for a few days and it mellowed out a little. They are a little too pricey, but it is a small batch produced cigar which drives the price up. Sorry yours fell apart, that always ruins the experience.

Wow, if that's not opposite ends of the spectrum, I don't know what is!

Tonight's cigar night with the guys, I'm not sure what all I'm going to take yet though...

I had a lot of Stogies over the last two days. Went to a buddies for the De La Hoya fight and started with a Oliva G series, just a little guy must of been a 48x 4 1/2. Moved onto a VSG torpedo. Then after a few beers, he pulls this beast out.

The thing is the size of a suit case. I guess there are only 500 made a year, its an assortment of the whole line, and all of the money goes back to some charity in Nicaragua. I had the Chili Pepper one, it was pretty awesome.

Today on the course, I had a Tatuaje west coast exclusivo and a Oliva Master 3.

They are a good smoke. Not a morning smoke though...hehe

I have a Padron 1964 pulled out for tomorrow.

Friday, I had an Illusione FG, and a Tatuaje White label on Friday night, today I had a Rocky Patel Fusion on the course.

I enjoy the Fusions quite a bit.

Had a Camacho 1962 PE while I watched my G-Men lose to the Eagles....At least the cigar was good....

Hey Gummi, I think Dan owes you a commision for my recent Triunfidor order.

Wiping the drool..... that sure is pretty, I think that box is around $750 if I am not mistaken.

You're gonna like them!

Either you're smoking a lot, or you've got a huge humidor, that's a couple of boxes in the last month or so from Dan for you, isn't it????

No, wish I was able to order boxes from NHC, I just ordered a few fivers. Been wanting to try the El Triunfidor's and that pic reminded me to order. But yeah, the humi is pretty maxed out right now. Playing Tetris is part of the fun. May have to burn a couple tonight to make some room, hehehe.

Also picked up a 5'er of the Tat P2's after your recomendation.

I thought you were buying boxes. :D I hear ya. I could easily blow an entire paycheck at NHC.

My humi's stuffed right now too, that darned CI ran a sale on the RP Fusion 2nd's (which are perfect for the golf course, or kickin around the yard), so my Dad and I went in on 4 mazo's, which topped off both of our humi's.

I'm thinking a Vinotemp may be in order for us soon. We can keep it at the Farm, and share space.

CI has gotten me a few times too, they just have some amazing prices on their "deal of the day" occasionally. I picked up some RP CT's 5'ers recently for $20 including shipping, those are my go to golf smokes. I haven't gotten to the point of the Vino yet, but my 50 ct and 150 ct are pretty much full. I have been keeping some less than desirables in a "bag-a-dor"(ziplock with a humidity pack)

C-Bid is what gets me.
