What did you shoot today?

I played at Desert Rose, which is the old Winterwood you listed. I also play at Nellis, (AFB) and have played at Prima's place.

Prima's golf course is long, long gone, and is now a housing/business area. Has been for quite a few (30+) years. When your Dad golfed at Prima's place did he ever meet any of the big name stars who frequented the place during it's hay day? That was the hang out place for most of them (even the Non Golfing Stars) since it was so far out of town at the time. I remember the fairways were very tight, and some of the greens served more than one fairway. Prima's place is where I learned to hit a straight ball. Any normal faded, or drawn ball could put you in another fairway if you were not careful.
Thanks for the memories with this "blast from the past":clapp:

What course?? I grew up in Vegas, but have not played a single round there.
I drove the cart for my dad who played different places every Sunday..
But that was back in '72-'74
Places like Nellis, Winterwood and Louis Prima's Fairway to the Stars.

Yeah, I know it is cooler in the mornings, but it is less crowded in the afternoons. Much cheaper also. I can get in 18 holes, walking, for $6.75 most evenings. Mornings are pretty much rounds of 5+ hours. Plus it is a lot more humid in the AM. I like the Vegas heat, and have lived in it all my life. "It's a dry heat" is actually a truism. As long as you prepare properly for it, it is no big deal. Pretty soon it will be triple digits in the mornings anyway, so it does not matter what time of day golf is played. I have golfed all over the country, and areas with high humidity are the places that bother me the most. I will be playing in Death Valley California in July with some friends. Temps that time of year will be in the 119*F+ range. The lows will be in the 105*F range. Heat is good, since it allows the ball to fly farther.................

You should get out at 6:30 or 7 AM provisional! Get done before it hits triple digits! (Please don't tell me you did!)

Played 18 this morning with fellow board member Rocketsauce. Despite the fact that the driver was giving me fits all day, I scored really well. 75 total with a 38 on the front and a 37 on the back. One 3 putt the entire round and that was my doing. The irons and wedges were really dialed in and just made a lot of pars.

Great round JB!

Agreed--we'll see that handicap heading down again.

played with JB this morning and, well, i SUCKED. i had two 8's on par 4's today. i shot a 45 on the front and a 42 on the back for a 87. it was ungodly hot out there today and i was DRENCHED by the 4th hole. it was very uncomfortable out there for me today. the heat and humidity didnt seem to bother JB at all though, but it sure as hell made it miserable for me, lol. if it wasnt for those 2 quad's, it would've been an alright round. but those 2 holes did me in.... 87...ugh :-(

RS needs to stop counting strokes and he will be fine. As soon as he hits a bad shot we hear "well this round is over". hehe

If he did not worry so much about his score, he would be in the 70s everytime.

First night of league play, the only good news is the first 3 weeks are to set everybody's handicap. Shot a 55, it was ugly.
I did manage to somehow get a birdie, drive just missed the fairway 170 yards out. Hit the hybrid to 5 feet and sank the putt.
Also had a nice up and down from a greenside bunker, unfortunately it was for a double bogey after taking a penalty stroke for losing my second shot into some nasty rough.
I'm really getting pissed about my iron play. I'm pretty consistent off the tee, but it's the approach shots that are really hurting my scores. I can hit 6-LW shots on the range all day but when I'm on the course it seems like every time I have a chance for GIR I will hit a fat shot that goes 20-30 yards.
Mo, whenever i start hitting fat shots i make my pre shot routine a little like Mike Weir's. Take prac strokes and address the ball, then make a 1/3 backswing and down, then 1/2 backswing on down concentrating on plane. Then a second you come down from your 1/2 swing start your backswing. I know its more mental, but give it a try

We have a teaching pro on the site thast will be able to help each person if they choose to use it.

I played with Kat0677, I shot a 96 :bad: I had some really good crisp iron shots but was really bad with my driver. I think the shaft is to whippy I started using Kat's and started piping them down the middle. I am taking mine tomorrow to get a new shaft. my putting stroke is bit stabby still and I need to work on being consistant. always tomorrow!!

Shot a 37 - 38 for a 75 ..... par is 71.

Fairways: 9/14
GIR: 8/18
Putts: 30 :D

I had a very good round and scrambled amazingly on my front nine..... only hitting 2 greens with only 12 putts!!!

Good thing my putting coming around as our club match play tournament starts soon.

Another great round Jimmyboy! Nice shootin'.

Shot +1 (35) on the front nine on the course I'm playing the Pub Links at. Holes 6 and 9 are normally par 5's of about 500 yards, but for the Pub Links they are going to be par 4's, and I made 4's on both of them. I wasn't striking the ball great, but I was hitting greens and fairways.

that's some good shooting 907! ..... 500 yard par 4's .... yikes. Do you have the length to reach those comfortably?

44 front...47 back for a grand total of 91. I had no birdies and know I left a few strokes out there. I am on the verge of a big break through!! I can feel it!!!

Played a nine hole match play practice round ...... won 2up despite playing like a donkey!:D

playing like a donkey!:D

I have no idea why, but the first thing that popped into my head when I read this line was . . .

" . . . this one time, at band camp . . ."

Sometimes I worry about me.

I have to brag...FINALLY! AT my little 9 hole goat track I play a few times a wekk I shot my best ever, funny didn't even feel/think I was hitting it too well. One over par! Bogey'd second to last hole, which 75% of the time I par or frequently birdie. Last hole, hung it on the lip for a birdie which would have given me even! Damn! Feels great though! This is 5 better than I've ever scored there!

I played what is rated the 4th best course In Ny State for 2009 by "Golfweek" for whatever that is worth, The Links @ Hiawatha Landing anyone can google it and find the website. Sue and I got a certificate from her sister to play 18 free cart 24.00 Probably the only time I may play it sadly, it is 108.00 a round for 2 people, also 4000.00 for a yearly membership for a couple. Still all squaking aside LOL Much respect has to go out to the grounds crew and all the people that work there tirelessly for the maintenance of the course and facilities, the fairways and greens felt like sponges under my feet when I did walk !!! Challenging course to the point if you did not keep the ball in play, fortunately for me I'd say I did about 70 % of the time, the course had a lot of sand and a lot of fescue grass was in this 1x only, for 18 holes, and was in 2 sand traps for 18 holes, shot a 58 on the front and a 58 on the back for a respectable 116 for my 1st time playing there. Felt nice to play on a nice course, but you can't pry away my 480.00 a year goat track from my hands and it is looking the best it has in years and it gives me more freedoms in certain aspects, having said this I had a stellar but very tiring day.

Congrats scooter!

And JC, hope you had fun on that course! Always fun to play really nice courses, especially when you aren't putting out a lot of cash!

No I do not, but I can get very close, I got up and down on both of them.

Although one of the guys I'm paired with tomorrow hits his driver 300+ every time, he maxes out his clubhead speed at 145 MPH. But his short game is really streaky, he will make 5 birdies and then go double, double, double.
