What Golf Stuff Did You Do Today?

Walked 18 on Saturday and hour on the range on Sunday.

Played some golf with good friends at Hammock Beach and it was a great time!

Easy day. Just hit 5i, 6i, and 7W this morning. 84 balls. Distance was good, dispersion not as good, but not terribly bad. Kept switching clubs after every shot for the final 42 swings.

Found a low battery in my lazer. Fixed that.

Getting ready for Mesquite, NV for the next 4 days. Two 18 courses, and an AZ Par 3 course in my plans.

Rain forecasted for Tuesday, and Wednesday. Will see how that goes. Rain gear maybe.

Rough 9 holes today. Though I parred 8 and 9.

Worked a 6 hour shift at my course.

Dropped the irons and wedges to have the lofts and lies adjusted/checked and made a tee time for tomorrow for me and the daughter.

I got a box and a bag today that 100% contain golf stuff. Should I open them?

Crazy day. Went to the hotel casino to claim our room. Was told it wasn't ready. To come back in 2 hours.

So we go to the Palms GC. They can't get me out due to the NV State Golf Championship being played there. No tee times available till November 14th. Same with it's sister course Casablanca.

Called Wolf Creek, all booked up. Too late in the day.

So we meander 10 miles north into AZ to a little Par 3 course. Place is packed, with a line of people all the way out to the parking lot. but I went inside anyways. Turns out the crowd is 99% lottery ticket buyers.

An employee tells me they just did some sort of maintenance, and tells me to come back in the morning to golf.

So with that we drive 30 miles into St George UT. Find a course, there's only enough time for 9 holes. For $50. $60 with a cart.

So I settle for a bucket of range balls to scratch the itch.

Once done with the d-range, we went looking for a place to eat. Just happened to drive by a Kia car dealership. Decided to stop, and see what they had.

What was supposed to be a quick look see turned into buying a new 2023 Kia upgrade from what we traded in.

So it went from not playing any golf to buying a new car. :banghead:

At least I got the terms I wanted. ;)

Odd but golf related, took a picture of my golf shoes with the tongues cut off for a warranty claim in order to get a replacement.

Looked over my putters and made a hard ponder over selling 3 of them very soon.

Also went by Sam's and stopped and stared at the Vice Pro 2 Dozen box for $50, and wavered. Eventually put the box back and told myself I am good with the 10 dozen Chrome Soft I have on hand. (Also have 2 dozen new Vice Pro as well). Pricing isn't that great to justify a stash that won't be touched for years.

I opened the box...

There is one small nick on the back edge of the sole, but I'm pretty sure I can knock that out with a file. It doesn't affect the performance so I may just leave it.

While on the practice green talking with a Montana Snow Bird, he showed me something, new to me, on reading putts.

While standing in back of the flag pole, the flag pole being between me, and the ball, I would align the flag pole with (through) the ball.

Then, using the horizontal line across the top of the hole, and comparing it with the vertical flag pole, if there was a break, it would show up? Similar to plumb bobbing only using the flag pole.

(I am not a fan of plumb bobbing)

The only requirement was that the flag pole had to be near perfect, straight up, and down.

I tried this a few times, and in some instances I saw some merit. That said I'm not one to take the time to read putts from behind the flag pole. I'm a quick look and putt kind of guy.

Anyone else ever heard of this?

If you read putts from behind the flag pole, what are you looking for?

I played Ben Brown’s 9 hole course in Laguna Beach for the first time in 20 years. So it’s basically new to me.

On a day when I was finally driving and putting pretty well I couldn’t hit anything in between the tee box and green. Very frustrating. My only par was on the par 4 9th.

Nice course, and the weather was great.

Since it has been raining a lot I played 18 on my sim. I haven’t played it in awhile and was super stoked to see someone created my home course on it. I was pretty shocked to see this since it is not a well known course in McKinney, TX.

I did some range work and ordered some shoes. I’m stubbornly hoping that the weather will be dry enough for me to force out one more round this year.

Hit a large bucket and putted for an hour.

Absolutely nothing, except for being here. But not for the usual reasons. My clubs and all my other worldly belongings are in a container headed to Pennsylvania. We're moving across the country. Won't see them for about 3 weeks and won't be buying anything in the meantime as we are maxed out on what goes on the plane with us.

Took a lesson. Dropped off my 2FDI to be reshafted with a LinQ Black. Checked out some reviews for which direction I want to steer my son for his next clubs. The young man is crazy if he thinks I’m buying him blades.

D-range time with my D-7W, and 2-4 Ironwoods. The Ironwoods are not a regular part of my game bag. I just like hitting them.

Probably 80-90 balls hit at my diy fairway using the slice side tree line, and a hook side 130 yard marker. The width was smaller than most of the course's fairway widths. Spent about 2 hours there.

Focus was on ball position. aim, alignment, and tempo.

Used a shorter version of my pre-shot routine most of the time. Also took a little time between shots, while not swinging the same club more than two times in a row.

As for ball flights, all I was looking for was balls landing in, or near my make shift fairway. The newer looking range balls seem to fly better. ;)

Next week I will playing a course that has two par threes, that I can't play like a normal par three.

From the tee, each hole has tree limbs hanging over the fairway. The rest of the trees are high enough that hitting a normal trajectory shot is pretty much a crap shoot for me.

There's an old saying that a tree is 90% air. Then again, so is a screen door.

So, what I'm left with is a couple low running tee shots of 110, and 125 yards. These are the shots I worked on today.

5i, and 7W with abbreviated, (shorter) back swings.

I actually like holes like this because they require me to manufacture a golf shot. Try something different, and seeing if I can pull it off.
