Tell Me About Turning Stone

Turning Stone is one of my favorite places. I have played Shenendoah and Kaluyat and will be playing Atonyote next weekend.

Shenendoah is the prettier of the two, Kaluyat the harder. Conditions are always immaculate when I've played, even this April playing in a NYSGA tournament when most courses hadn't even opened yet. As others have mentioned, Shenendoah and Kaluyat are located adjacent to each other right at the casino--Atonyote is a few miles down the road.

The range at the casino is huge and you hit off of grass. The putting green (I'll check with how many there are next weekend) adjacent to the range is also a nice size. I'll report back on what the practice area looks like at Atonyote.

The casino is large with lots of room for gaming. I hear the poker room is phenomenal. I have never stayed in the hotel as being only an hour and a half away, I usually am making day trips; however, I have stayed at the Fairfield across the street which is decent enough and shares a parking lot with a large sports bar/restaurant. There is also a LaQuinta down the street where I'll be staying for the first time next weekend.

While the Albany Airport may be 90 miles away, I don't ever remember it taking more than an hour and 15 minutes or so to get to turning stone. Albany is exit 24 on the Thruway, the casino is exit 33. So 9 exits in 90 miles and the only real city from Schenectady to the casino is Utica, so there's not much traffic to speak of either.

After we talked about TS this weekend in Savannah, I figured I would do a course review while out there next weekend. The only course I'm not playing is Shenendoah--which is the one I'm most familiar with.

I can not tell anything about Turning Stone yet, but one of these days I am going to show up at Deans house and say we are going to Turning Stone, it is on my must visit list

Swing by and grab me on the way buddy!

Definitely need to get out and play these courses, as I've heard the WNY guys talk about them a few times.

I'm in for a fall round there...

Suck it Turning Stone!
Gawd I had an idea and they sucked the life out of me.

Sorry to hear this. I thought for a second that I had a connection there, but after speaking with the guy who runs my golf league in Albany…I don't.

Haha.
I dont give up, but it wont be Turning Stone.
Shhh
Dont tell anybody, but I was trying to plan a killer Match Play event in the area.
Im still convinced I can get it done, but the freaking geldings and phillys are making prices outrageous.
And if I know one thing, a two day event in this area cant cost $500 and me expect to fill it with 16 people.

Geldings and phillys eh? Sounds like a bunch of horse$hit to me. (Prices in that area during that time I mean…)

Far from over :)

They will not reduce rates at all, regardless of event, during that time, so THPers would be on the hook for rack rate, plus meals, plus misc and you are looking at a $500 weekend and while we have events that cost that much, a whole lot more is offered and they are usually played on some of the best in the US.

That bites, looks like an awesome location for an event.

Ah damn, I was waiting for the THP event at Turning Stone to pop up.

I've heard good things about the courses but never played them. Good luck with the next venue!

Fear not. While small in the scheme of things, I guarantee there will be at least one THP CallOut held there in 2016.

You must have been looking in late July and August. When the Saratoga track is in session nothing for 100 miles around is discounted.

I hope it works out. I've played Shenendoah and Kaluyat a few times each and really loved the courses. Both excellent layouts and the conditions have always been fantastic.
