THP UK Summer Cup 2014

The 6th is the good ladies birthday...as much as I have tried to sell her a weekend there for her "birthday" she is having none of it ... I am resigned to doing the right thing and not waking up with valued parts of my anatomy in a pickle jar :bulgy-eyes:...her quote not mine. I will get to an event soon...
Fantastic selection of courses you are playing in Kent all...wonderful ...and so much history ..enjoy (and if you could find a way to getting a couple of RSG ball markers...I will glady reimburse you for mine and Ranger juniors collection )

Ranger - Ouch. Discretion being the better part of valour - I propose that keep smiling at the Good lady...

Hi Ranger, no probs I'll sort out the ball markers for you just remind me nearer the time! Easy for me to get them to you as I'm not far from Copthorne and my in laws are members there!

Ranger - Geo has an extremely long day ahead of hime at RSG. 2 rounds of golf and then a quiet little drinking competition with me...he will therefore forget markers. :devil:I won't. (He may also forget his name, address, etc....)

Only kidding Geo! I am a reformed character - looking forward to seeing you down there. One of us is bound to remember markers!

Right I am afraid it's just going to be me on my own I am afraid, if anyone from around Essex wants to arrange getting there with me etc? Cheers

David. Was thinking we might drop into Celtic Manor on the Tuesday....as you are down anyway....:blob:

That does make it a little re tempting, will need to see if I can fit it in, although as the Tuesday is my wedding anniversary I suspect Its going to end up costing me!!

Wedding Anniversary. Celtic Manor - You, me, several other boys...what could possibly go wrong David?

We could video call her and sing a wee song???

Seriously - CM in July is not on the cheap side - hence I avoided it for the main event - as I want to be inclusive - but I would certainly fancy a trip round the 2010 again...

Once we are firmish on numbers for the Cup - Ill start a supplementary thread for a thrash round the 2010 Celtic Manor on the Tuesday (Saturdays members only)

So Mr B....need a couple of Yes' from the Davids of Yorkie-shire please....

Spoke to my mate earlier to see if he had got signed up yet as he had some issues the other day (user error :D) and said he would be trying again tonight - if not, he will be round at some point over the weekend

Told him the details and price so hopefully he will be adding his name to the list

Hey Doc! What's the story with the North East massive? They sending you down as sole representative again?

Still chasing him.......his wife hasn't been too well so not sure if he has brought it up yet

As soon as I know I will let you know

One of my mates has indicated interest, should know over the weekend whether he can swing it
Afternoon Ian - your man got it through the War Office?

Definite maybe for me but have a few other things to firm up before I can commit, should be able to confirm the next couple of weeks hopefully.
Joey - couple of questions...
1. How is it looking? Only hassling because I will have the venue onto me at the end of the week - and Im sure I can keep some flexibility - but need to give them some idea.
2. Just spotted the Altitudes in your sig...liking? Im putting 3,4,5 into my bag in a week or 2. how do the short irons go for you?

1st post updated. Dirk St Moritz Confirmed.

Dirk's handicap continues a gentle ascent - yet his golf seems to be improving!

At our place we have a winter eclectic over 12 rounds (you have to declare the round before you start). You get your best score on each hole and then half your handicap deducted from the total. After about 7 rounds - Dirk's score stands at 58 I believe - with at least 3 2s on the card.:beat-up:

And they call me a bandit!

1 - Should have more firm by tomorrow/thur, it's a work thing mostly and my boss is being elusive this week sorry.

2 - love them, I actually look forward to hitting 8,9,pw. Nail it and it's a thing of beauty, get it somewhere on the face and it's still going to be a good deal closer than it currently is. 4,5,6 are pretty effective too. I was going to get a three but got a stonking deal on an xhot 3h the other week so will leave it at that. Everyone who has had a swing with them has been astonished, esp the guys with fairly flat rainbow trajectories, they're suddenly hitting high with great shape and love it.
(just wish I could have more consistent strike and remember to swing, not hit but after a couple of decent shots, I start to go after it and fail horribly!)

Thanks for both answers! - Im going to end up with a true mix up bag...Cleveland, Ping, all sorts in there....Food for thought.

Sorry guys we're sitting this one out, timing just doesn't work I'm afraid, despite the chance to play the 2919 course! Gutted to miss my first THP event but Stu and Mav will just have to fly the flag for us ever presents! Hope you guys have a blast!

David! And David!...Mav281 is inconsolable. We both collapsed in floods of tears. Can we not move your anniversary? Perhaps fly Mrs Rat to Paris? Supply her with a dashing escort (Geo375 is free for the evening - and I thought he was pretty cute)....
Gents, you will be sadly missed (and of course fined to within an inch of your life) but we will do our level best to make you p..p..proud.......:crying::crying::crying:

She does like Paris.......

I'm gutted too, I do enjoy the banter, the fines, and the golf isn't bad either, except when I play like a muppet! I'll follow with interest

I can certainly ensure the playing like a muppet bit!

Hi Stu, sorry to say its a no. You'll just have to settle for me alone ha ha

Looking forward to seeing if you can keep that big drive on the short stuff! - As we happen to be playing St Andrews together next month - perhaps there will be a likely lad or two up there who might fancy a car share?

Hello fellow golfers..
I will steer my longboat over the western sea and try to fight for glory!

So, I'll have to appologise for my Swedish accent that will be heard over the meadows during this summer.. :)

Almdudler! Welcome - park your longboat anywhere you like.

Given that the UK Chapter of THP are largely quite stupid - we will undoubtedly come up with a nickname like 'The Swede' or 'Abba-Boy' to go along with the names that we have for Tom - 'The Dane" or 'Carlsberg-Boy'

First Post amended.

So - UK guys hesitating because of the distance - we have a Dane jetting in from Aalborg / Aarhus and a Swede coming from Gothenburg...how is that for commitment?

Sorry, I have to retract my maybe to a no :(

Can't swing the time at all. Gutted. I have family in Bristol so was hoping to make a week or at least a nice long weekend out of it but not to be.

Never mind Dirk being a bit of a bandit.....have you seen the 'How is your confidence' thread.....looks like will_i_dream is playing that game as well

I am still working on my mate to get him sorted but haven't heard from him since Sunday so not sure what the score is there at the moment

Yeah - he mentioned he was playing well. I may have to invoke rule 46.3 to stop the cup going North......:blob:

Not really bothered about a share as I was thinking about having a little tour and visiting some friends down South

Ah but at least my winter league handicap is being reduced to reflect my score, started at 10, reduced to 9, down to 7, back up to 8 and now down to 5
(they employ a sliding scale and you get reduced by 1, 2 or 3 depending on your stableford score. 3 scores in the 20's and you go back up one)
