Ok, so let me start by saying my first choice would be the South course. I'm not asking which course is better or more fun to play because I think the South wins that hands down. Here is why I'm trying to decide which to play:
I will be landing in SD on the 26th at about 2PM and planning on heading out to the course as soon as I get checked in to my hotel. I will have some time Monday or Tuesday to get out there so I may play another course Sunday and then head to Torrey on Monday or Tuesday afternoon. I'm guessing whichever day I head there I'm going to get to pay the twilight rate. North course is cheaper, South course price isn't bad. It looks like I could probably walk on and get in a group on the North course (someone who has been there correct me if I'm wrong) but the South course I better book soon if I want to get on. To book a tee time I would have to pay a $42 booking fee, plus then the greens fees. Based on some things I've read, as much as people love the South course they think its overpriced and that the North course is still amazing, and if I could save the $43 booking fee by walking on its an even better value.
So I pay $153 including the reservation fee (190 if I play Sunday) on the South course by booking ahead?
Or should I play the North course for $60 ($75 if I play Sunday) *this is basing it off of not needing to book ahead.
Maybe someone here can tell me for sure if I really need to book ahead on the North course for a single golfer. If so the costs would be a lot closer, but I'm planning on playing another course while I'm there so I'm just trying to keep my costs down wherever I can.
Thanks everyone!
