We have a pair of Cedar Waxwing's currently building a nest in our back yard maple. Always been intrigued by these birds, but only see them here and there. Can't get a good picture because they fly in and out so quick, but excited to have them in the backyard!

Saw the Eastern Bluebirds, which nested in our front tree, teaching the young to feed last evening. A fun sight in the backyard!

I finally saw a pileated woodpecker in my back yard! A big and noisy bird that you can't miss if you look up and see what is going on!
There was pair of them high up in a pine tree that lost its top.
What a sight those are! Glad you got to witness a pair!

I saw a red tailed eating lunch in my back yard yesterday. I figure one less baby bunny eating my roses.
It took a long time to eat. If it was eating a bird it would be done in a few minutes and there would be a pile of feathers on the ground.

A loon with her chick riding on her back. It’s the MN state bird and there are over 300 loons spending the summers on the lake by our home.

Our kayaking trip down the Little Miami was another great birding experience. Great Blue Herons and Ospreys along the entire 4 mile route we took. Had to shorten the day due to morning rain... Saw one Heron run off another, probably two males. Then while I was coming up the rear of our 11 person flotilla, the guys up front saw a couple of the Ospreys going at it... we followed a Kingfisher for a while... a family of wood ducks was a little nervous as we went by. Momma kept the young ones close.

I was walking my dog this morning and happened upon this Coopers Hawk. A squirrel 🐿 was running towards him so I am not sure how that played out.

Wasn't quick enough to get a picture, but the kids and I saw 4 Trumpeter Swans fly over head this evening. Quite a surprise!

There’s a couple of Great Horned Owls 🦉 hanging out behind my house. The have been elusive for a picture but I hear them hooting every night and the absence of Barred Owls confirms their arrival.

I saw this Coopers Hawk hanging out in a driveway this morning on a walk with my dog.
