NC Round - Pinehurst Area - September 7, 2013

Even after seeing us slide up a set on that hole. No excuse! I guarantee that was a brut from back there.

Ha. We saw you but we assumed you were giving up on the blues honestly! It was tough. 196 was the number if I remember correctly.

It was a little backed up early in the round. (And not due to THPers, the few groups in front of us were moving SLOW)

This pic was taken by the 4th group on the tee box of hole 3. You can see group 3 on the green and group 2 on the tee box just up the hill.

It was a great day and I am so happy to have gotten to spend time with old friends and make new ones.

We had a host of NC area guys and a Virginian and South Carolinian as well.

Gorgeous day for golf. The skies looked even more blue in person, if that is possible.

To be honest, that's the first time I've ever seen any part of my swing in a picture........

I always thought I had that problem as well, but looking at my picture, I can't believe that my crippled butt actually turned so far through that I'm facing the other fairway. I never knew that I came that far around on my tee shots. But I did hit a nice 230 yard 5 Wood on the opening shot, so I don't think I'll change that anytime soon.

Maybe it just seems that way because I have to turn my left ankle instead of rolling it because it's fused?

I call it great camerawork by a devilishly handsome cameraman. I could be wrong here, but I'm not.

Seriously, nice finish there.

Thank You for posting these some great pictures. Really was an amazing day.

I was trying to forget about that drive though :banghead:

hmm, wonder if that was an action shot of my first terribly sliced shot, or my provisional that was 250 straight down the pipe (that I sadly had to pick up...damn shiny white e6's...)

Great pics!

p.s. and while the round was pretty slow, it's amazing how little i cared when you have good company

Hey guys,

I've had a hectic last couple of days so I haven't had a chance to say much in this thread. It was good to finally meet some of you guys after talking on the forum and I look forward to doing it again soon. I wish everyone could have made it to dinner because that was the main time we had a chance to shoot the shizz a bit. It really was just a solid group of dudes and I wouldn't expect anything less from THPers.

Derek and Chunky were the only two that I had previously met and it was awesome to golf with the two of you as opposed to filming you golf. Chunky's kids really aren't that bad and they are better putters than I am which is sad. Derek is just flat out the man after hooking me up with a THP casino cover, Mizuno hat and ball marker, and a Bridgestone shirt, all for the price of a Yuengling and a SeeMore American flag cover. I owe you big time bro.

I'm hoping we can all pull together again in early November for another outing. I told some of you that I am a member at Keith Hills and any of you can play there with me for $25, which is including car. On top of that, I'm about an hour from Pinehurst and I am always down to golf with any THPer anywhere.

I'm always up for a round at Keith Hills, I enjoy that course a lot, especially for $25.

I know most of you are still getting updates on here, so I'll put the offer here that Andy put in another thread. Me, Andy and Dan have a tee time at 9:10 at World Tour Golf in Myrtle Beach on Sunday and have room for a 4th player that I would really prefer to fill with another THPer. Cost is $59, which is a pretty good price for that course. It goes up to $99 next week, so we're trying to get a round in before the cost increase.

It's really worth the drive for the day, since they recreated 19 of the most famous holes in the world into a single golf course. I've played there a bunch before and it's always a lot of fun to play the shared fairway from #1 and #18 at St. Andrews, the island green at Sawgrass and Amen corner in the same round.

I've always wanted to play there. I've got a tournament this weekend so I won't be able to make it but it would be awesome if you guys could snap some photos for us.

I have heard some good things about Keith Hills but have yet to have a chance to play it. I may have to take you up on that offer sometime.

Any time you want man. I am always up there.

Question to all the NC THPers who have been to the southern pines area. I will be there for 5 days in late march. 3 of the days we have a package and lodging at Pinehurst Resort but the other two days we will be out in the village and on other courses. Any suggestions for things to see/do in the town of Southern Pines or places to eat ???

Hickory Tavern has excellent burgers (black and blue burger was awesome) good beers and a cool atmosphere.

I was in the area a couple times last year and ate at Pik-n-pig which is on an airstrip north of town. I like some pulled pork every now and then and enjoyed my meal. Played one round with a couple locals who recommended it. Have a good time!
