First gen Miatas went on sale May 1989, which was in the 80s.

Regardless, I was speaking more to the midlife crisis and stereotypical buying a sports car/roadster.

Sure, but they were 1990 models. Mustang will fit the sports car requirement, though I'm kinda partial to the 1998 Cobra myself.
