Because of all the bankruptcies? Maybe he will bankrupt this place too.

I am so glad I didn't have to say that. Thanks. The Donald makes my skin crawl. And I can just see him pulling a Jackie Mason and turning Blue Monster into some monstrosity.

or the bad hair and overly sprayed on tan? Or maybe the fact that he is condescending, disrespectful, elitist, etc.

Heard this on Morning Drive today. Gary Williams really seemed to like the architect too and said he knows how to make a golf course.

Gil Hanse was the designer of Castle Stuart in Scotland, which hosted the Scottish Open this year. He also helped design the renovations at TPC Boston with Brad Faxon. He's a rising star in the golf architecture world.

I hope they don't mess with the course too much. I like the Blue Monster the way it is.

I agree and have mixed emotions about this deal. I live on one of the five courses and welcome his creativity in golf redesign. My biggest concern is he's going to push away the local average joes with ridiculous membership and green fees. They're already excessive in the winter season. I'm sure casinos are in the plans although he won't admit it right now. We'll see what happens.

There was lots of talk about this, and it's finally official.
He brings in the best guys money can buy and adds to the courses he buys without destroying their character. This will for sure make The Blue Monster even better than it already is.

Only played 1 Trump course, one in LA, thought it was kinda gimmicky.

Having only seeen him and his work on TV, Trump has always struck me as a guy wo thinks he knows a lot more than he actually does and overcompensates by making everything bigger, louder and gaudier than it needs to be. After watching his swing and reading stories about his cheating (at golf) I fear for the Blue Monster.

one of my good friends is a member at Trump Bedminster and that course is phenomenal. if he makes the greens at doral anywhere near like bedminster they'd be glass.

Well, he has been trying to lure a tournament to one of his courses for years without success. I guess he decided to buy a course that already hosts one so he can say he has a PGA tournament in his chain of Chump, I mean Trump courses.

What's the over/under on added waterfalls to The Blue Monster?

My coach told me he tried to start a tour of his own a while back or at least was affiliated with a new tour to compete against the PGA or Nationwide. My memories fail at the moment.. US Pro Golf Tour.

Saw on the Golf Channel he paid $150 million. Does that seem cheap to anyone else? I mean for all the land and the hotel and everything, seems kind of low!

Property was up for auction and he was the only bidder. When he brings a casino he'll make a killing.

I was thinking the same thing for this course but I guess above post makes sense.

Yeah, he got a nice deal on it, but no one else wanted to buy it.

"Morgan Stanley paid $501 million to purchase Doral in 2007. Trump is getting the place for only $150 million, although he's going to spend at least that much on renovation and restoration."

The above quote is from this article: http://www.golf.com/tour-and-news/d...s-doral-and-hes-ready-tell-you-all-about-them

he paid 150 for the whole lot and was the only bidder?

sounds like trump learned a thing or two from dealing with the old concrete club in new york 30 years ago.

I think he'll do a great job with it while keeping the integrity of the old course. I personally enjoy his show on the golf channel and would love to play a few of his courses some time.

A few weeks ago Golf Chanel had me do a survey about course design and opinions on Trump they were leading you into would you be intested in watching a show about Trump and the design of his courses. Keep your eyes peeled for Turf care apprentice.
