The baseball diamond hole was a bit putt-putt like, but the real turn-offs were the 60 year old beer cart girl wearing high heels and a leopard skin mini-skirt and the course marshall that I had a bit of an altercation with. We were waiting behind a group of members for about 10 minutes on each shot and the marshall kept coming up to us and telling us to speed up, when the members in front of us were the ones holding up play. Even though there were only 2 of us and 4 of them, they wouldn't let us play through. The 4th time the marshall came up and told me to speed up, I lost it and told him to look in front of us. We were on the tee box, they were 150 yards in front of us. He got an attitude and told us that if we didn't speed up, we'd be asked to leave which turned into an argument. After this argument, the group in front was still sitting in the same place, so I pulled driver, flew a ball 100 yards past them, put my driver away and went and loaded up the car.

I told my sister about it, who gave the manager an assessment of what happened. He called to apologize and offered me a free round, which I declined.

I could see why its on your avoid list. My group got pushed unnecessarily by the marshals at a couple of the Bandon courses few years back and it aggravated me.

What a horrible course. My sister worked there for a while and got me free passes. After the experience I had there, I'll never play there again when I'm up at the family's house, even if it's free.

I've played Meadow Farms. It's a decent course to play once. Some of the holes like the "Waterfall hole" are unique.

Mattaponi Springs has a great layout & the conditions were very good for the two times I played it which was in September and October. It's an hour ride me & out in the middle of nowhere...but worth the ride. Golf Digest ranks it #50 for public courses in 2013/14.
