THP West Coast Event - Coming?

I have been waiting since I joined to see a thread like this. I have enjoyed the palm springs/scottsdale areas myself but as long as it was somewhere I can get a reasonable flight to, I am definitely leaving some extra vacation days on my plate for this.

Is there any estimate of time of year (I might have missed it) that is definitely a limiting factor as far as where you can set up out this way.

If I was a betting man, I would say it's going to be in SoCal. Phoenix area is great, but unless you are going to have the event in the middle of the Summer, all of their courses are over priced for the snow birds.

And if I was a betting man Id bet on THP not paying full price ANYWHERE

I'm from Southern California so I'm definitely partial to that area, specifically the coastal area. There are a bunch of beautiful course out there but they tend to be high dollar.

I frequent another board that does an annual golf outing in the greater Phoenix area. Wee Ko Pa alone is worth a trip out there. Dinosaur Mt. , Greyhawk, Southern Dunes, Talking Stick are some other gems out there.

While I can't comment on another boards festivities, check out the 2014 THP Events Calendar for a special look at what we do here and how unique they are. Hope to see you at one sometime.

Edit: Here is the 2014 Schedule

Phoenix/Tucson area is always nice. But I've never played in So. Cal so that would be my choice.

Ill also voice my opinion about Colorado being a fine place for an event next year! Any wedt coast ish event id be looking to get into however

Colorado WOULD be nice for me as well, logistically speaking. There are those of us in the "fly over states" that would love to make some THP trips to the coast(s) but is cost prohibitive from time to time.

Honestly speaking, I've not done much research as to costs to go from KS to anywhere on the coasts. With that said, I have a very good friend who lives near Pebble Beach that I could stay with. So if I was throwing ideas out there...not saying Pebble, but maybe a course NEAR there?

Not true. April and October would be perfect times for an event. Weather is good and rates are below the seasonal highs. I am sure JB would love to spread out the event schedule and Arizona/SoCal weather would be very accommodating.

I have always wanted to play golf in Colorado . So many good spots out west can't wait to see what THP comes up with

Colorado probably needs to move to the Pacific time zone to qualify for west coast

Do keep in mind that most of our grand events are stay and play events, so that part might not be helpful for you, but love the enthusiasm regardless.

I would be overjoyed if there was an event out this way! Makes traveling to one so much easier since I don't have to burn a whole day on travel each way. I think great ideas for areas to have events would be San Diego, Phoenix, Seattle, Portland, and Vegas/Mesquite/St. George, because they all have major airports nearby and numerous outstanding golf courses within an hour's drive of those airports. My ideal destination would be Bandon Dunes, but I honestly can't see that working out for a stay/play event since it's so far from a decent sized airport.

Reno/Tahoe would be high on my list as well.
I want another shot at The Dragon. (not actually in Reno...but close)

That is a mean one from the tips

True; Arizona's on west coast time half the year. We don't do Daylight Savings. Have you seen how much daylight we have? Certainly don't need to save it, and we'd give it away if we could!

I would be excited for his announcement. Thank you for coming to the west coast. Either So. Cal or Arizona would be unreal to play in. I have long considered teeing up there, with an event would be even more memorable.

I don't have anything specific in mind, but I do think it would be fun to play at a course with some altitude, I've never played in conditions like that.

In any event, I know this west coast event will be high on a bunch of THPers radar.

I can't wait to see more details, even outside of location and course.

I would definitely be in for a West coast event. My favorite areas in Cali are Napa, Monterrey Peninsula and Palm Springs. The first two are probably out just on logistics, just as Bandon would be. One area not mentioned much in here is Lake Tahoe. Casinos, Edgewood Tahoe GC and more! Wherever, I know THP will make it first class. So, I'm in if I can get in.

I know nothing about the west coast but I will add the only thing I can add:

I would be interested if it were an event at a resort where I could bring my wife. I doubt I would be able to go solo.

Just my 2 cents so take it with a grain of salt.

An event in Scottsdale would certainly have my interest. With Daughter going to school out there starting in the fall it would be great to see her and play golf with THPers.

Other west coast cities of interest:

Mesquite
Vegas
Palm Springs
San Diego
Bandon
Greater San Fran area.
Monterey Peninsula

Nice to see the wheels continue to turn on this. Would definately be interested in participating if the work schedule allowed.

My GF would definitely travel to SoCal. That's the only way I could pull this one off. I know wherever it is, it will be a can't miss event!
