Say a prayer for Mystery Man's son (cole)

Bought him any toy he wanted Saturday .. Picked out a 1200 piece Barbie lego beach house ? Why? Not sure :) . Anyway took an hour and half to put together and was destroyed 3 hrs later .. Oh well, all the toys and he picked beach house Barbie lego ?

Talk to to you soon guys

Cole is ROCKING the Barbie Lego Beach House! Atta Boy Cole!

Well they found something , 2 days ago .. A high count of Selencia ( spelling) .. Abnormally high . And guess from what ? His formula Rice Milk .. He had major issues with milk , so we went with rice milk per the pediatrician . Hair loss and headaches are both related neurology said , once they get one the other should be solved too. Well great news , switched to 2% milk mixed with half soy and no headaches ..none . All is going great so far .. And to just let off some steam I even went to the driving range for a few hours .

for parents with toddlers with milk issues .. Be Leary of milk substitutes : mainly rice milk . It may not be the answer yet , but 2 days with no incidents . Now if the hair could just grow back , but I'm sure that takes some time .

I am elated that the doctors found an explanation for Cole's headaches and that you all seem to be over the hump on his illness. What a wonderful father's day present for you, your son, and your whole family.

Just a thought now .. But so far ok .. He isn't there yet age wise , but the huge hair loss and no eyebrows will be tough for him when he gets older . He wore a hat for his day care pictures , and he wears hats outside and when we went on a field trip . They call it Alopecia , I so so want that to grow back . Growing up is hard enough in school let alone hair loss for little kids . So yes , fingers are crossed

and a million thanks: no us open this weekend just family outdoors and being able to berate a little more now ( hopefully )

cheers guys : and thank you . Keep playing well

and I guess watch rice milk or milk substitutes
I so understand what you are saying. But (and I'm sure you agree) the loss of hair is meaningless compared to some of the other stuff you may have been looking at.

I'm really happy for you that this may be behind you.

I tried Google-ing selencia...can't find anything. I did find some disturbing info about eating large volumes of rice, however. Yikes.

Great to hear that they may have identified such an easy issue to resolve. All the best to Cole.

Thanks for the update. Glad that you're getting some answers and the bad stuff ruled out. Positive thoughts for Cole!

Selenium .. Not sure how i messed that up .. Selenium . My mind is always off in other areas some times . Agree , hair is appearance .. Tumors and major blood issues are a different matter .

Very happy to hear this news. I know it's a big weight of your chest. Been there, kind of, and just extremely happy they found something that is easily fixed. Milk issues with kids seem to cause so many different issues.
Glad to hear you relaxed enough to hit the range.
Hope your life returns to normal quickly.

Wow! Rice milk - I never would have thought. Glad it wasn't something more serious.

That is just incredible, but I am so happy to hear he is doing better!

Glad to hear hear he is getting better. Here's to a long term solution.

May the good Lord watch over your son and keep him safe.
May you have the strength to support him in his troubles.
Good Luck and God Bless!

This thread made me want to look up rice milk and the 2nd link off google was an entire article about rice in liquid forms like rice milk has arsenic properties in it. Crazy.

Returned from St. Louis last week to do final testing .. My son has been given an "all clear" by the specialists . Big big weight off of our shoulders . Brain activity normal / headaches gone / and all hair and eyebrows returning slowly . They are still convinced it was the Rice Milk . Selenium

case has gone to the FDA , . As Selenium and its side effects were left off the label . Pediatrician prescribed the rice milk . Will be a relaxed household again , relieved my son can now be pain free . A lot of negative info at times , but this last trip was the best news yet . A very very long year

I'm so happy to see this update. Congratulations! What a relief for you

Congrats!

Fantastic News! I'm so thankful for your whole family!

As for the hair, I'm not sure if it's the same thing, but as one whose wife went through breast cancer and lost all her hair due to chemotherapy, I can assure you that it does grow back!

Feel like a new family ..
last 3 weeks were huge turn around .. And the specialists can tell when the bad is gone and good is on the way .

Also so learned to leave golf as a hobby , I'm really digging the family time . I grew up alot, and realize that I'm a family man not a die hard golfer like I used to be . Those times are long gone , but I'm ok with it .. When you see your little one happy , you realize that is all that matters

thanks guys , this was bad enough . But it could've been very bad

I'll have little Cole in my prayers.

Prayers and thoughts still with you.

Great to hear this good news

This is the first time I've seen this thread. I can't imagine going though something like that. I can't help but believe this thread will help current and future THP members in the future. Thank you for sharing your story and all the best to Cole and the rest of your family.
