Will be heading out to the Phoenix area in mid May to meet up with a few buddies for our yearly golf trip.... They have made plans to play Gold Canyon, Dinosaur Course; TPC Stadium Course; Eagle Mountain; Raven.. 2 have free 2nd round/same day options...no idea where they made condo reservations..Any opinions on their choices? How spread out from each other are they? Weather? etc, etc. I'm guessing these are locked in as I had no input on the trip... Thanks in advance....

Go to Ping and take the tour!

If you need another course to play, take a look at We-Ko-Pa. Two nice courses there.

Both We-Ko-Pa courses would be highly recommended. I would also look at Troon North Monument and Pinnacle. Tegavah is also a little known gem in the northeast valley.

Totally agree with Ken and fupresti. Played both Troon North courses last year and loved them. Did both We-Ko-Pa courses 2 years ago and they are top notch as well.

I've played the Gold Canyon, Dinosaur course and loved it...also played one of the We-Ko-Pa courses and would recommend getting out there if possible, just as others have said

Played both Troon North courses and do them again next visit to Phoenix area.

You are going to have some fun! I'm jealous. Weather will be hot so water will be your friend

Mid May should still be ok. Highs in the mid 90s during the day but dry.

May is hot but not extremely so, especially if you have early tee times. You will enjoy the courses on your itinerary. There are SO many great courses in the area and prices start dropping in May. Enjoy!

That's a fantastic sounding trip with some awesome golf. I absolutely LOVE playing out there. Have a great time!

They have a new top golf near the Talking Stick Casino and golf resort. If you are looking for a good time with buddies id head over there. Scottsdale is really a great town you are gonna have a blast. Raven is a tough course but its a great experience. Have a good time

Never played Eagle Mtn.
TPC Scottsdale Stadium course is cool cause the pros play, but the course itself isn't that great.
Golf Canyon Dinosaur is supposed to be terrific, I have not played but my buddies love it.
I like the Raven (Phoenix) course, it is different from desert courses around, lots of trees.

If I had the option of changing up the courses, Troon North Pinnacle and WeKoPa Saguaro would be on my short list.
I personally like Whirlwind GC (two courses) at Wild Horse Pass, they are good layouts, not as scenic or as expensive as the other places.

My $0.02

Just came back in October from a little trip out there. The Ping Tour is amazing... I did it. Also sign up for the free club fitting while you are there. I don't know if there is a bad course to be honest... I wanted to play The Raven and We Ko Pa when I was out there but they were being overseeded. In addition to those, my picks would be...

Troon North Pinnacle
TPC Scottsdale Stadium Course
The Boulders
The Phoenician Desert and Canyon 9's. ( don't bother with the oasis 9...worst case play the desert 9 twice) The views from the holes cut INTO Camelback Mountain are incredible.

Have fun! I got my first hole in one out there!
