Same boat as you brother. No idea what shaft I want though, that's the big ponder.

Yeah, it's just brutally expensive. I feel a little bad for contemplating going elsewhere for the gear in the future, since it was a great experience and I really liked Andy and Ryan, but TBCH that quote prices me right out of their market lol. Plus I paid the fitting fee so I don't feel TOO bad!

My thoughts exactly. They're not cheap shafts to begin with, but they're not THAT expensive haha

It's tough with the recoil protos. I think they are awesome, but that is an incredible price for them.

Also, 600 for two hybos? That's tough!

I'm thinking Fuji pro 73s.

That's a solid one dude. I'll keep my eyes open.

I was thinking Ad-DI 7x. I had an 8x in my 915f and it didn't work, and a 7x in my SLDR and R1 and they sucked too. But I've hit a 7x in a 3 and 5 wood and a 6x in a SLDR, R1 and R15 and they all worked amazingly, so I'm thinking it's a matter of them being too heavy. DI's should work since I have a girly transition but fast SS lol.

No joke. I fully intend on tracking a set down, but not at that PP.

And yeah, 600 isn't even the whole story - that doesn't even take into account the 2 Accra shafts at 560! It's actually nearly 1200 for two hybos! :bulgy-eyes:

Yikes. That's a big upcharge.

I wonder if you can do fittings at that location that stay within certain dollar amounts..

That is insane it was the same way at club champion when I went a few years ago as well. It was a huge shell shock to me. I think the thing that is the most interesting is when they fit you into a no upcharge option in a head but because they only do components you have a huge upcharge.

These places are amazing in terms of having things to hit but I would really struggle to ever buy anything from any of them that has this pricing structure.

I got my cousin to ponder a Heavenwood today. :bananadance:

I never thought to ask, like an idiot! But I suspect that it would still be very expensive, even if you were fit into cheaper options - kinda like lightningbolt says above, since they're doing everything component based and building to tight specs, there is a significant price premium. They wanted 135/head for the 850F's and 299/head for the M1 hybos, which I believe is more than the retail price of each club off the shelf with shaft.

It's my understanding that they also hotmelt heads when applicable. Could be why they upcharge. They also find the perfect swingweight(s) too.

That would be called price gouging in any other realm except golfing and luxury items.

It's the whole I paid more so it must be better.

But a local quality fitter can fit you better for less and make adjustments down the road cheaply if your swing or game demands.

Getting properly fit is definitely a plus to your game and enjoyment. Getting ripped off. Is always hard to swallow. It would be hard prove or provide any support that this excessive up charge would actually improve your game or score.

You would actually benefit more from taking lessons from your favorite PGA Pro for the same amount of money. And then if necessary take the leftover cash and buy another set of clubs.

What do you think would produce more birdies. A good fitter or a good instructor.

So while I always strongly believe in proper fitting. This is too much.

I recently purchased new irons with KBS Tour shafts. Fit to my game. Total. Less than $650.00 7 clubs.

What? Are there really better shafts that KBS tour. Or your favorite brand on the market. That are only available a XYX bring your wallet store.

Plus Most OEM'S offer dozens of no up charge premium quality and brand name shafts to fit any but the most exceptional golfer. ie. Tour Pro's.

So. Don't look back. Step away from the casinos table and keep your cash in your pocket as you run out the door.

IMHO

I see where you're coming from on some of this, but can't say I fully agree for a few reasons:

1) Component pricing is different than off the shelf pricing - especially if hot melt is applied like BigCountryStein mentioned.
2) I would argue that Modern fitted me better and more accurately than any smaller fitter I've been to, due to all the tech they have access to. And as to the cheap adjustments - they adjusted all my lie angle for free as part of the fitting fee.

I agree that a set like MG quoted to me is pretty much overkill, but you're not paying more just to pay more if you buy clubs there - you're paying for a really precise build. Calling it price gouging is a little oversimplified, IMO.

No worries. You got the clubs that will make you happy.

Just throwing my two cents out there.

I have a local fitter that keeps my gear tuned to my specs. For what I consider reasonable price and quality results.

But then your situation my be different.

For the record, I didn't buy any clubs from the fitting because I do agree that it's a little much for someone like me who is a recreational player. I only had lies adjusted, which was included in the fitting fee.

Agree it's good to have a local person. I'm not going to drive an hour to Modern just to get work done - so I do have a local go-to when I need lies adjusted and the like. But his facility isn't on the same level when it comes to dynamic fitting, so I went to Modern to get the full scoop.

A Tour AD BB shaft for my driver.... Does anyone know how much a Callaway COG tip adds to the length of a shaft?

Can't be more than about quarter inch. As far as playing length with head installed, I believe it's additional 1.25 inch

Still pondering a full bag fitting... Going to have to recover some from the holidays before I start on that though!

I do this every year haha - ponder that is

The almost $600 hybrids is crazy as well.
That's without the quoted shafts apparently - another $559 for a total of roughly $1160 for 2 hybrids
Yikes

I can confirm this. Added 1.25 when I did the club work on my Black Tie/XR Pro
