2015 Golf goals you DID and DIDN'T accomplish...

Did:
-Improve my handicap
-fixed some swing flaws (not all but most)
-enjoyed the game more and had fun
-got my girls out to the range with me
-get picked for #TheGrandaddy
-payed it forward every opportunity I got

Didn't do
-get my hcap under 10
-didn't win #TheGrandaddy
-walk as much as I would have liked

I did:
Play a lot more.
Become more serious about improving my game. (I mean that in the serious sense, not just a "I gotta get better." More of "I'm going to get better, and I'm going to study my game, and find out what I do right and do wrong, and fix it.")
I actually feel I've made a big step mentally with my game. I'm more comfortable with understanding my game, and where I need to improve. I feel like just a better player.

I did not:
Improve as much as I wanted.
Beat my buddies Chris and Jim to gain gloating rights.

If I recall you were invited...

I couldn't justify 200+ with how bad I sucked last year. I'll be much better in 2016. Maybe even worthy of playing these courses. Geneva will happen too btw

Goals were to break 80 and get to single digits.

i accomplished both.

I don't remember my golf goals for 2015, but I'm 100% confident I didn't hit any of them (see my #1 on my "didn't" list).

Did:
Played Bethpage Black.
Made it through a whole season without buying a golf bag.

Didn't:
Let my elbow/arm heal.
Play as much golf as I would've liked.
Play enough rounds with my dad and uncles.
Defend our two-time office scramble title.

Did:
- Played a lot of golf 128 rounds
- Get to play golf with THPers
- practiced more than the year prior
- Improved my game a good bit
- Made it to Cali to tee up with my Brother-In-Law
- Found a set of Irons that work quite well for me and actually kept them in the bag
- Become more active on the forum and try and take part as much as I can
- Shot my personal best of 86

Didn't:
- Make it into an official THP event
- Track my handicap
- Stop buying new clubs out of boredom
- make my goal of rounds (I still have 10 days Lol)

The only real goal I set was to play in an Official THP event in addition to The Grandaddy. I tried to get into a few but I didn't work out, back at it this year.

Did: Shot 80 several times this year!

Did not: Break 80....maybe next year

Good thread, makes me look back at the season. Overall I am pleased with 2015, but it could have been so much better (I am going to blame my instructor for moving to San Diego, but I should have found a new one).

Did:
played a lot more golf
started playing more consistent golf
Got into a THP event

Did not:
Get to Single digits (so far away still)
Win said THP event :(
get in as many lessons as I wanted (need to find a new instructor)

For 2016, I have a lot of work to do.

I did:
-establish a proper travelling handicap, that I play to or better every round
-became much more consistent off the tee - fairways were common place
-employed much better course management, played to my strengths, and played more consistently
-played with THP'ers for the first time, forever changing the way I looked at golf

I didn't:
-shoot a new PB like I had hoped.
-play in an official THP event (having to skip The Gauntlet)

The highs were great though:
-tying my home course PB of 33 (matching a score I shot 4 years ago)
-shooting a PB score at a par 30 course (shooting a 31, bettering my best score there by 3 strokes)

Golfing wise I didn't reach any goals at all, I'm disappointed but I live to create more goals. Life wise I killed it, I beat every doctors predictions, I got an outstanding job, my marriage is stronger and deeper than we thought imaginable and I am happier than I've been in years. I am truly grateful.

Heres my list from the thread last year...5 of 6 aint bad

1. Win the legacy
2. Win another invitational
3. Get paired up with a real "A" player at Bridgestone championship.
4. Drop index back down to 11 where it was in 2013.
5. While it may be less than 2013 I want to make a handful of thp events.
6. And last of all have fun again with this fickle game

I am extremely happy to say that I accomplished all of my goals this year.

I did:

Break 80
Reached a 10 HC
Reached single digit HC
Attended my first THP event
Got my first eagle
Played and practiced more
proved to myself that I can travel my HC when it matters

Some of the things I wish would have happened, but weren't goals until I got into the event:

Win the Gauntlet
Win Gauntlet MVP
That was a great Eagle BTW!

Goals I met:

- Have more fun on the golf course.

Goals I didn't meet:

Everything else I wanted to.

This year was a rough one with less golf and worse performance. Hopefully this one is a little different.

Did;
Fitting and new clubs to start 2015
Play little less than normal
Handicap back down below 10
Fitting and new clubs at the end of the season

Did not;
Win any events I played in
Play in any THP events
Play nearly enough

Considering that 2015 was my first year playing as I played only a handful of times previously...

Things I did:
-Progressed at a satisfying rate
-Broke 90
-Practice
-Met a THP'er

Things I didn't do:
-Even though I went from playing less than 5 times before this year to over 20 rounds, I feel like I didn't play enough!
-Spent "maybe" a bit too much money

Did accomplish -
Played in THP events.
Got around my new club a) without a three putt, b) without losing a ball, and c) under 90.
Not a goal, but shot my personal best 76. Tied my PB 9 hole (relative to par) score -2.

Did not accomplish -
Hcp below 10 index. I got it to 10.0 for one revision.

I had a great year golf wise. I lowered my cap, broke 80 for the first time and made my first THP event. Oh and was part of the winning team to boot.

My goal at the beginning of the year was to be able to break 100. I did that by April, now I'm finishing up work on a full swing change. I have a few more things that need tweaking, then I need to make sure I can take that new swing to the course. I'm really curious to see how my game works out next season--I feel like there are a lot of moving pieces that are about to come together.

I did

Improve my cap (though not as much as I wanted)
Get to one THP Event
Play more golf this year than last

I didn't

Buy any less equipment
Achieve my handicap goal
