Callaway Apex MB Irons - THP Preview

I remember last year when you played blades....;)

Honestly, I am 100x better then when I gamed those. The odds are better.

My first post on this forum and it's great to see a discussion on the Apex MBs.
As a matter of fact, I signed up mainly to find out more on these amazing irons from others on here.

I just got these last week and managed to play one round with them and they were gorgeous.
They have a bit more meat than the X Protos which I was gaming before.

Thanks caeleric! Did not expect to have someone on here with a connection to my city!
I picked up golf while studying at UF in Gainesville - not too far away from Orlando as you already know.

Here are some side by side shots of the apex mb pw with prototype pw. Size is similar as is top line and sole (pretty much expected from muscleback irons). But definite difference in the weighting

Grooves are very different (apex mb being wider and further apart)

Question on the groove pattern - do the wider grooves on the APEX MB impart more spin?
I can't seem to notice too much of a difference (with ball spin) but that's with only two rounds so far with the MBs.

Have played a few rounds now and I am really starting to like these irons!
Definitely not hard to hit at all and ball flight is just amazing.

Always nice finding something you enjoy.
Enjoy the heck out of them.
I believe one of the Grandaddy guys THPers played against used these.
AJ I believe.

Yes sir. Dude is absolutely lethal with these things.

Thanks JB! There have been a couple of shots I've hit with these irons that have just left me breathless.

My last round a few weeks ago I was playing with brother in law and he put his ball about 6 ft from the flag from about 140 yds out. Grinning he challenged me to do better. Took a deep breath, put a nice easy swing and let the club do the rest - the ball stopped 5 ft from the hole. Rattled him pretty good.

Preowned has these for a song right now. Oh man, the ponder is intense.

Go for it! These clubs are seriously good.
However, do look at the Utility Irons as an option for the long irons.

Not a big fan of these in the long irons, or just really like the utility irons?

You may want a little more meat in the long irons.
The Utility Irons offer a little more mass when hitting out of the rough.

The other day I hit these with kbs tour v 110 stiff at golfsmith. Very good pairing ;)
