Putting this out there for recommendations. My last single college roommate got engaged over the weekend and we are trying to plan a February/March Bachelor party for him. We have an odd number of people (5) and still want to get some golf in. Does anyone know a place that allows 5somes under certain circumstances? Best deals to be found in the Southeast at this time of year?

Are you just looking for golf or are there extra activities happening?

Hammock Beach

Golf will be the main event but I'm sure we will find our way to some extra activities if they present themselves

We did my friend's bachelor party (8 of us) in Biloxi Mississippi and it was FANTASTIC! Courses (Grand Bear, The Oaks, Fallen Oak, The Preserve) were great and all within decent driving distance and the casino's and night life was fun as well. We all flew into New Orleans and made the drive over. Really was an incredible trip and really not too pricey either. We stayed at the Beau Rivage. Looks down on a minor league baseball field and the gulf as well.

Myrtle Beach might sound cliché, but it's a good time for a handful of fellas to get into some (mild) trouble and play outstanding golf.

Most of the courses are used to parties like this - I'd call around and see which places would be kosher with a 5-some.

That time of year it's still cold in places. Fort lauderdale comes to mind for everything you will need.

Hammock Beach
That one made my original list. We have stayed there as a group numerous times but still havent played the courses

I agree with this tried but true destination. Good golf, food, drinks, and plenty of trouble along the way. Also it can work for a variety of price points. You should do it Final Four weekend.

I'd go to Myrtle Beach if i was looking SE. Should be enough to keep everyone busy.

My second vote would be The Breakers in Palm Beach.
Nothing in Myrtle Beach comes close to Hammock FWIW.

How far is that drive?

I would recommend Myrtle Beach especially since the focus is the golf

Final Four weekend is an excellent suggestion

Biloxi is about an hour from New Orleans. Down I-10.

You could also fly directly into Gulfport/Biloxi Airport. Because of the casinos, there are plenty of cheap flights into that area daily

Drive was about an hour and 20 mins. Not too bad at all and flight prices were dirt cheap. I think I flew roundtrip to New Orleans from Chicago for less than $100 on Southwest.

Is budget that much of a consideration? I mean, MB would be great bang for the buck around that time, as it's not really high season. Then again, your crew had better be OK with potentially cold temps that time of year. Could be beautiful and brisk, but could also be in the 40s and windy, whereas you're not likely to risk that at a place like Hammock Beach. However, that place aint cheap, easily 203 times what you might pay in MB for golf and lodging. Yes, HB is very nice and courses are beautiful, but for $300+ a night or more...it adds up quick.

Don't know much about Biloxi, but the weather shouldn't be a problem and it's probably pretty cheap. Casinos nearby for a bachelor party are always a good bet as well.

Was just in Biloxi for New Years. Not sure how good the golf is personally, but I do believe you have to be staying at Beau Rivage to play their golf course. There is about 10-12 casinos there with a handful of them being rather nice (Beau Rivage, Scarlet Pearl, Hard Rock). Also a few dive casinos, which are also fun in their own right. I'd recommend it.

Having stayed at The Breakers, that hotel doesn't scream bachelor party to me unless you want to spend a bunch of money and play a really short golf course.

New Orleans could also be pretty fun that time of year.

What about South Pawley's island. Lots of good golf there!

New Orleans -

You could play TPC of Louisiana, English Turn, Oak Harbor, hit up the Bridges in MS, as well as a few others. As long as you have a car/van, you would be money!!

Im guessing you have not stayed there recently?

They have two courses and the shorter one was just restored and is great.
The Jones course a few miles away is phenomenal. Definitely not short either at over 7100 yards

3 years ago was when I stayed there. Place was great for a couples retreat, which was the point of our trip. The course on property is the one I was talking about, just short and lots of holes running back and forth side-by-side, it wasn't all that interesting to me. The other course was 20 minutes away in a shuttle, and seemed like a typical Florida course to me, nothing special. But then again, that's just my opinion.

I have attended several bachelor weekends in MB. You may do better elsewhere if golf is your ONLY goal, but you'd be hard pressed to have a better time on a true, wild, guys bachelor weekend anywhere else. Any dining option you can think of, plenty of golf at all price ranges, great nightlife (whether you want to dance yourself or prefer to occasionally watch someone else dance), shopping, etc.

Rent a home on Kiawah. Less expensive this time of year and a phenomenal series of courses. Played the Ocean Course in September .... almost beat the monsoon, felt really bad for the caddies as we were standing on the 11th tee and saying it looks like we'll beat the storm. They muttered NO WAY and we correct... storm dumped on us coming off 16. I went double-double on 17 and 18 to shoot 81. Could've been a low 70's round but I just couldn't make any in the 10 foot range all day. Played a mix of Ocean and Tournament tees to around 7,100yds
