Interesting data. Looking across western Europe that puts mortality under 1% but as mentioned, you have to take all numbers as suspect. Technically that would make it more deadly than flu, although since you're not required to report flu cases and many don't even bother to get tested (because who cares about flu), the CDC themselves estimate true mortality of flu to be 10-15 times higher, making it more deadly than what these covid numbers show. Whatever the truth is, my bet is in the end the covid numbers will be greatly inflated because with all the hysteria and panic, anyone who tests positive for covid and dies from anything respiratory-related even though they're 87 and have COPD will be marked as 'caused by covid', which is very much not the case with flu at all. The powers that be will be pulling out all the stops to justify plunging the economy into recession, causing 10s and maybe 100s of thousands their jobs, their lives and their homes. Here's a ranking of Covid19 cases per capita. It's a damn good thing that we shut down our incoming flights from China in January. Europe didn't do that or waited another 4+ weeks and look at where they rank on the chart. It gives me hope that we can flatten the curve and keep the deaths in this country to annual flu-like fatality numbers or hopefully a lot fewer. Countries like China and Iran lie so their numbers are much worse than they show but the European numbers are accurate. The U.S. is currently at the bottom of this chart ranked 38th and hopefully we can stay out of the top 20.
