They were previously. He made note earlier that they were spinning “too much” around the green, so he wanted to make a change.
Interesting to see GI long irons. Really makes me think.
I was told he actually goes back and forth depending on the course setup.I thought he has the king utility irons in the 3 and 4 spots I never noticed the switch.

And fwiw I got the WITB from a Wednesday survey. If he changed after that, I wouldn’t get that until your report tomorrow.Makes sense. You have people on the ground. I don’t.
Probably between Cobra and Bridgestone. I'd give the edge to Cobra. No one, besides golf needs, pays attention to shafts. His grips may have caught some eyes, too.I wonder which of his OEM’s benefit most from his W.
I'm happy to see him win. At age 27 with his power and finishing 3rd in scrambling for the week, I'd be shocked if he didn't win a few more majors.
I wonder what his victory will do for the sales volume of one length irons.
He did a lot of wedge experimenting last year, Cobra, PXG, settled on Artisan. Cobra wedges spin too much for him no matter the shaft. Good thing for us amateurs but couldn't get it down enough for himNot playing Cobra wedges is interesting. Thought he was an “all in” guy for his brand
He plays JumboMax UltraLite, although I'm not sure which specific size. But no matter what, very large.I wonder what size grips he uses, they looked like jumbo grips on tv.
Nice that's pretty cool, always wondered if you would see some of the shorter pros playing GI's to catch up. Wasn't expecting to see them in Brysons bag.
... with LA Golf Rebar Proto Shafts
Wedges: Artisan Prototype 47, 52 and 58 degrees with LA Golf Rebar Proto Shafts
He doesn't want to play Cobras, so that is what they officially tell people. Consumer now wants them because they "spin too much."He did a lot of wedge experimenting last year, Cobra, PXG, settled on Artisan. Cobra wedges spin too much for him no matter the shaft. I am sure that Cobra/Puma Golf is very happy with the relationship, regardless of whether he is using Cobra wedges. It was the first sponsor he thanked while giving his victory remarks. He doesn't want to play Cobras, so that is what they officially tell people. Consumer now wants them because they "spin too much."
It's good damage control for Cobra, anyway. Win out of a lose.
They can custom mill groove depths and widths and edge radii for these guys as long as they are conforming under the limits.
Retail wedges, they make say the 50º with narrower deeper grooves to impart less spin on fuller shots. They can do that on any wedge they want to.
Cool. I'm just commenting on wedges and milling grooves into them. It's possible. That's all.I am sure that Cobra/Puma Golf is very happy with the relationship, regardless of whether he is using Cobra wedges. It was the first sponsor he thanked while giving his victory remarks.
I didn’t take it any other way. Just adding to the discussion.Cool. I'm just commenting on wedges and milling grooves into them. It's possible. That's all.
Cobra never said anything of the sort. He isn’t under contract to play wedges. He did so previously because he likes the feel.He doesn't want to play Cobras, so that is what they officially tell people. Consumer now wants them because they "spin too much."

I've actually looked at them quite a bit over the last two years. I'm sure more will continue to look/buy them off his success.I wonder what his victory will do for the sales volume of one length irons.
Reading Rory's comments as to how the course was set up, and who/what style of player that lends an advantage to. This course was set up for Bryson and anyone else strong enough to hack out of that ridiculous rough. They are setting up courses to drive narratives first now, not competition. That is yet another reason to loathe the USGA. Rich guys that want the game to themselves.I am not sure if I should put this here? Start another thread or whatever.. But I find some comments by Rory regarding Bryson very very baffling.. I am a big fan of Rory and Bryson. For some very different reasons and some the same.
"Look, (Bryson has) found a way to do it. Whether that's good or bad for the game, I don't know, but it's just - it's not the way I saw this golf course being played or this tournament being played. It's kind of hard to really wrap my head around it." - Rory
But Rory saying Bryson is taking advantage of the game. I can only assume he means 1 of 2 things. Distance and putting.
If it is distance. Then the point is mute as Rory averaged more distance than Bryson for the week. Bryson was actually 7th in total distance so a few guys out drove him for the week. So Bryson didn't do anything Rory was not doing. Except he maybe did it better. I don't know..
If it is putting. Which Rory did mention. "that armlock thing" I think is what he said. Then if he was smart and it is an advantage. Why not try it? Why doesn't everyone put that way.
