Welcome

Hi everyone on THP!

I´m a 20 something golfer from Sweden who found the game again after a 5 year abscence due to studying and other stuff. My final academic achievement led me to a small golfing event during a conference 1.5 years ago in Phoenix, AZ. There I found the passion again..

This year I have signed up as a member of a club near my hometown with three full-length courses and a small chip and putt 9-hole practice course. Expecting a lot of rounds this summer! :)

I joined this community since I have been spying on your threads and advices regarding "hardware-goods" for a couple of months now..

So yeah, do you want any advice regarding golf or other information in/about Sweden. Just ask! :friends:

Hey Linus! Welcome aboard! As luck would have it, I am meeting up with a Danish THP guy for some work and a little golf on 8,9,10 May in.....Gothenburg! How about a round?:thumb:

Thank you! And yes, I will most probably be available for a round on the 9th of May, at least as there are no thunderstorms I will be at some kind of golfclub! That day is a holiday, so I´m off work! :)

Have you checked out any courses that you thinking of playing? Or any special preferences of what type of course?

Well ideally if you could get some great weather, and everyone else off the course ;)

Seriously, I haven't looked at courses. I like to walk, so preferably one without any mountains! What do you recommend?

Sorry for the late response.. Heavy worload and priorities on playing golf rather than reading/talking about it! ;)

Almost all players in Sweden do walk the golf course either while carrying or pushing a cart.

Recommendations not far from the city centre accessible by taxi or public transport:

http://www.albatrossgolf.se/se/gast/english

http://www.degk.se/sv/english

Recommendations that you will need a car to get to:
My home course: www.oigk.se
25 min from city centre. No english language on the homepage but the course "Gamla banan" (Old course) is very good and fun to play.

If it´s rainy weather you should definitely head up to Vårgårda GK, 1 hour with car from Gothenburg. http://www.vargardagolf.se/
That course is built upon sand so no water is ever on the fairway even though its raining hard.

Other than that I haven´t played as much courses in a long time so I can´t really recommend more but check this page for more:
http://www.visitsweden.com/sweden/Things-to-do/Adventure--Sports/Golf/Golf-courses/
And if you would like to just hit a few balls at the end of a day the driving range at World of Golf is always good. http://www.worldofgolf.se/wog/

Hope that will give you something to choose from!
And I hope I will be able to join you on at least one of the rounds! :)
