Do any of you guys do market research stuff? I've recently found a few companies in the area where I live that do this. I signed up and I'm starting to get asked to participate.

So far I've done 3 research tests.

1) Steak testing through Kansas State's Olathe campus. Took an hour. Tasted 8 different steaks and compared them. Got $70 for this one.
2) Bacon testing through Kansas State. Took about an hour and 1/2 over 2 days. Tasted 10 different flavors of bacon. Got $75 for this one.
3) Disposable razor test through Q&A Research. 2 weeks with my normal shaving schedule. 15 minutes filling out a questionnaire. 70 bucks.
Got asked to do a taste testing for $150 but couldn't make it work in my schedule.

I haven't gone in to the Quintiles testing or anything like that, although it does pay better. Not sure medical testing is in my future.

Anyone else do this type of thing? I enjoy it. Mainly because I like eating and getting paid to do it is a bonus.

My wife and I do it. I went in a few weeks ago and tried some new citrus drink. Spent 30 minutes to try out a few different drinks. Enter some basic info on a PC and got paid $50.

I would be ok with getting paid to do product testing, but being Guinea pig with medicine....I'd pass on that.

I'm going to have to check out local possibilities. Thats a few rounds at some nice courses.

Cool! How did you find out about this stuff?

The guys I work with were doing it and it sounded easy and fun, plus you get paid. So I went online and got signed up. Most larger towns have something if you look hard enough. Do a google search for "market research" or something like that.

The medical testing pays anywhere from $500 up to $7500 depending on what you're doing and how long it takes. I wouldn't be against it depending on what I'm testing and if it would help some sort of medical problem I have. ALL drugs have to go through the process before being approved by the FDA.

Never heard of this. I have tried a few food items sent to me at home but only got $5. I live in a small town so there are no opportunities to test foods that I know of.

I was sold at Bacon testing!

I used to do this when I was a poor college student. Shoot I used to donate plasma too, and I freaking hate needles.

Not so much since college. If it's something cool like a beer or bacon tasting I'd be up for it. Since I don't need the money it would have to be something really interesting to peak my interest.

I did one a few time for secret shopping at a CASINO

Gave me $100 to gamble, had to play at least 3 games, got to keep whatever I won, was a pretty good gig

mmmmm Bacon!!!

I have signed up for soemthing similar to this in the ATL area. You ahve to fill out a survey before hand and I have been selected a couple of times. My favorite was a beer tasting I got to do for a few micro breweries here in ATL

Going to have to look into this.

There was one that I didn't invited to do but the other guys in my office did. They got paid $100 to go in and open 12 cans of beer. They didn't get to drink it or anything. They were filmed opening the cans of beer, given $100 bucks and a thanks for the help. I want to do that one!

That one was awesome, have to admit. I was geeked out to do that one. One of the flavors they had me try was steak flavored. It was like an April Fools joke for my mouth. Texture was bacon, tasted like a steak. My tastebuds were screwed up for 24 hours after that.

I've never heard of anything like this. Sounds pretty cool though.

I want in

Did one once and too many people showed up, so I got paid and didn't do anything. Another one was an open discussion about Wild Turkey and some new logos/bottles they were considering.

I'd do it again if the opportunity came up, for sure.
