Was able to find the descent angle in the trackman data; it was called land angle.
47.1 for the cobra FTs and the 48.1 for the 921 forged. With a peak height of 99 feet for the cobras and 101 for the Mizunos.

Those seem pretty darn good for a 6 iron and a 85 mph swing speed. So 5300 spin should be good enough to stop it on the green.

That is going to plop down like a pancake.

man that is really good for a 6i

5300 with a 6 irons is basically perfect in my book - and 48 degrees yeah, don’t think twice about stopping balls.

My 921 Forged should be arriving in the next few days. I'm doing my best not to read any reviews or have any expectations, but I cannot seem to stop reading this thread. I've never been a big Mizuno fan, but I am really excited to receive these. I wonder if they'll make the cut?

WOW WOW WOW.

Big fitting session today at a specialist Mizuno centre.

Went in expecting to land on something with a bit of help when I needed it, likely the 921 Forged or HMB.

Did the Mizuno optimiser, tried the top 3 options which were a C Taper 130x, $ Taper 130 X and I can't recall the third. Was hitting with the 921F initially and dispersion was a little off with all. C Taper felt like a crowbar. $ Taper felt like it released too much, a little whippy. The third was also no good.

We went to the 4th option which was TT PX 6.5 which was glorious. Instant match.

Then tried the full range of Mizuno heads. Distance dispersion was an issue with the HMB and 921F. A big distance gain from shots struck out of the middle vs slightly off centred strikes. They were forgiving on really bad strikes, but the distance difference between good and great strikes was way too high for my liking.

Fitter then steered me to the MMC and Tour, surprising two irons that I thought were too good for my game as a high single figure handicap.

The 921 Tour was absolutely brilliant. My distance dispersion was phenomenal. Very bad mishits were suitably punished, but anything resembling a decent strike or better did exactly what I expected. I felt marginally better feel and more forgiveness than the MMC, and I preferred the look too.

Incredibly happy with the outcome and can't wait for them to show up in a few weeks.

Snuck in some matching T20 wedges too!!

Great day.

Cut against what?
The Cobras that are currently in my bag, the Itobori set that may never get delivered (seriously where are you?) The T100s. Anything else that may strike my fancy.

I had a set of P770s on order, but bailed on them as I didn't want to wait for December delivery. I am in new iron mode, so I'll be playing with quite a few over the next few months before I head to the far east.

These are real close to my P790 irons and I had no trouble stopping any shots that are decently struck.
My Apex are similar but I spin those closer to 5600-5800.

I see no worries for you.

I play the mp-18 mmc and feel the same way about the Tour. Sounds like a fun fitting. Can't wait to hear your thoughts when you get your clubs. 💪

Went seeking some answers about certain clubs today. Was surprised to find my local DSG had the Hot Metals. Tried the T200 which I didn't like even on well struck shots. The Apex and Apex Pro were nice, but I think the standard version was better suited to me. The P770 gave me better results than all of those mentioned. Now on to the Hot Metal. (Pro wasn't available) Standard loft and lie, Nippon Neo shaft, 7 iron 180yrds carry on the line 3 of the 5 shots, other two very good results.... Feel was better than I imagined it would be, (reminded me a lot of the i200s I loved so much) Just need to see the HMP to finish making my mind up. Right now, Hot Metal followed by a distant p770

I spent an hour hitting the Tour and Forged demo heads (with Modus 120 Stiff) at Golf Town in Kelowna. I used my gamer ball, 2020 CS TT during testing. I gotta say, the feel difference between the Tour and Forged is very slight. The Tour head has a denser sound at impact. Aside from the Tour being about 7 yards shorter on average than the Forged there’s nothing in it. Dispersion to the center line was a wash. Front to back dispersion went to the Forged. The Tour does punish the mishits more but nothing I didn’t expect for a club of this category. I was able to try the 921 Forged 8i with Modus 120 Stiff to see what the gap would be since this is the first 1025E iron of the set. I was pleasantly surprised to find the gap was on average 13 yards which is pretty much bang on what my 919 Forged 7i to 8i gap is. Ponder mode is now engaged....could a 921 Forged set be under the Christmas tree?

10 more days or so for my set, rep told the shop they are pretty behind on custom orders. Anyone else experiencing this?

Went for fitting and ordered my HM with C taper lites on Sept 14 and was told they would be shipping on Oct 8. Fingers crossed that’s correct.

Oh no, I just custom ordered mine two days ago from Dick's and the delivery date says next Friday. But I have no idea how DSG would know since it's made and shipped directly from Mizuno.

Hope it doesn't get delayed. My fingernails will be completely gone by then.

Wait, the 8i is 1025E? I read a description of the 921 forged from that other site, that says there is no 1025E in the set. I guess I'm confused maybe.

What did your set consist of? I did a 4HMP bent 1 weak and 5-gap forged, all 1* up...

I definitely read this, the best review ever, and totally missed that sentence.

5-GW Forged, 1* flat with stock Modus 120 stiff. Wanted to try out the shafts. Might get an HM 4 iron in the future, but hitting my hybrids pretty well.

That’s why you shouldn’t go anywhere else :p. Some people may have an article but THP has the right information.

Lesson learned...forgive me THP!

Ordered mine through CC on September 4th and they are quoting 6 weeks so October 16. When I asked for a status update last night, they just said no changes and still Oct. 16. Seems like they probably don't even know themselves so can't give me any details. Just keep telling myself that the wait will be worth it!

I went to the golf store to seek these out this afternoon. I hit the 921 Forged with Modus 120X and 120S, and 921 Tour with Modus 120S. I loved the look and feel of the 921 Forged, I could definitely get along with those from an aesthetic standpoint. I also like the idea they have more forgiveness. My dispersion was a lot better actually with the Tour, but small sample size, maybe 8 shots with the Tour and 12-14 across both shafts on the Forged.

First test has earned sustained placement on the 2021 ponder list. Shaft Optimizer spit out some beefy shaft options... was not expecting Project X 6.5.

I loved the Forged when I hit them a few weeks ago. My dispersion was much better with them than the HM or HMP. Even with my limited swings though I discovered the difference in forgiveness. Interesting that when I swung the shaft optimizer that same day I also got Project X 6.5 at #1. TT DG X100 remained #2.
