THPers were some of the first to try this shaft at the THP Event a few months ago. Here is the press release.
From PX:
Project X Catalyst iron shafts will become available to the public through True Temper Performance Fitting Centers on Monday, August 6th.
Catalyst is a graphite iron shaft constructed with Iso-6, Project X’s new material technology engineered to replicate steel alloy properties over 100% better than traditional graphite laminates.
“In an iron shaft, the key to consistency is material symmetry,” explained Don Brown, senior director of golf innovation and product strategy at True Temper Sports. “Typical graphite iron shafts have only 35% of the material symmetry of steel. With Iso-6, we’ve been able to achieve a graphite material with 75% of the symmetry of steel.”
The tip-section of Catalyst delivers torsional resistance comparable to that of steel—improving stability during turf interaction for better impact on less than perfect shots.
“As the undisputed leaders in iron shaft design, we know better than anyone what it takes to design an iron shaft that performs for everyone—from Tour players to amateurs. With Catalyst, we have finally been able to bring our world-renowned steel shaft performance to a graphite iron shaft,” said Don Brown.
Project X Catalyst is offered in weights ranging from 40 to 80 grams and in flexes ranging from L through X. Catalyst is first releasing as a parallel tip shaft with taper tip models coming later in the year. MSRP is set at $75.
