The best shot of the round

152-yard 9-iron on #5 par-3, wind right-to-left and slightly helping. I hit a little high draw that danced all around the hole, leaving me an 18" birdie - the only one of the round.

Had some prettier ones, but this was great. Came up 20' short with a full wedge trying to stay below the hole (imperative), which wasn't awesome. Then backed in the putt for birdie! I don't see that every day. :p

Another good putting day. 26 total putts. BSOTR was a 40 foot downhill putt into the center of the cup.

Played University Ridge in Madison yesterday. This par 5 has usually been hard for me.

Hit a great drive in the fairway then solid 3 wood, chipped to 5 feet and made my birdie putt

Par 3, 113 yards. Gap wedge. Missed it by just a hair!

Not gonna lie, I had a LOT today. It was a good one. This one was technically the closest approach though. Plus, I shotsplained it for @Gman79 , so that adds value. :p

134 playing 141 up the hill, PW for the easy birdie. Everything falls left there, so just a little more momentum on the spin back and it would have had a shot at the hole.

54 degree wedge from 100 on 18 to an inch for a nudge in birdie. The ball hit 3 inches directly left of the hole and wound up an inch behind the hole.

Hit my 2 hybrid on second shot, 180-190. Had to cut the conner, just over the edge of trees and fairway sloped to right. Put ball almost in center of fairwayabout 120 out, on a par 5. I am very happy with that shot.

as my confidence with the driver builds, going after hazards that used to have me wondering if i could cover them off the tee no longer have that effect...

3 metal , bombed it!!! 273 but a 35 yard wedge stuck it wihin 4 feet.Made the putt

438 yard Par 4, #1 handicap hole, driver 260 yds, 6 iron left 175 to pin, bang. Easy 2. :)

This one was especially sweet because of the bad luck on the previous shot. Second shot on a par 4 from the middle of the fairway and only 140 yards out. The hole doglegs right and the green slopes significantly left to right. Middle flag, but about 1/3 off the right side. You should and can hit your approach onto the left side of the green short of the flag and then have it roll down to the flag. Nailed the approach, but for some reason the ball did not roll out, leaving a 40 foot downhill putt to the pin. Played it 1 foot right of the hole and nailed it center cut with all the guys watching. BSOTR and a great make up for a bad break.

I chipped in for birdie yesterday after catching the tee ball heavy on a par 3

Par 3 183yds and I hit a 6i. Knowing where the flag was I needed to play the slope of the green. Hit the perfect shot and watched the ball land on the green and roll and bank of the flagstick. Didn’t drop but left me a short putt for birdie.

Lovely flighted 50* to a back pin from 103. Did the sexy 1 bounce check instantly to about 3 inches.

Nothing too exciting yesterday... but a couple encouraging shots with the wedges.

My swing got away from me this summer and I was hitting SW, GW and PW about 70, 80 and 90 yards respectively compared to 100, 115 and 125 last year.

I got it sorted out and am now back to SW 100, GW 115 and PW 125 - on the range, at least.

Yesterday I was able to take that back to the course for the first time in awhile. Had 125 left to a tight pin and hit a PW to 5 feet. Felt good to see the yardage back where it ought to be for me.

Drivable par 4 that plays about 295 usually and is near impossible to hit on the fly. Well guarded by those trees. It took me over a dozen tries to even hit it when I first started playing there.

Not today though!!

Hit at 291y and pretty much stayed for an eagle chance from 18'.

Tough chip from rough on the hardest hole of 9. Par 3 6th hole. I hit the pin and dropped it a foot from the hole. Par.

Split the bunkers with a 3 wood on the drivable par 4. Set me up for an easy birdie although I nearly chipped in for eagle!

200 yard par 3 that is narrow due to tree limbs hanging over on both sides. Pin was about 4 paces off the front. Playing partners both semi chunked their tee shots. So I told them I was going to try something different and go straight at the pin. I hit a laser right at it. Never left the pin. Soft bounce left it on the collar, but still a pretty straightforward 12-15 foot putt for birdie.

Hit a smooth PW on this 125 yard par 3. Made an 18 foot downhill slider for birdie

Didn't play particularly well today at all, 49 on the front yuck!!

But hole 5, lightning struck. Short par 4 and hit into bunker with 3 wood from the tee. 60* wedge to get out and the line it takes looks good, see it bounce and roll right towards the hole, catches left side and swirls in and drops!!

Eagle baby!! My first ever!

12 footer to secure a point and lock up the Mizuno Experience!!!!

The ZX7 A wedge was on fire today. Already had 2 birdies with it, but even after my back was in full rage mode, it just wanted to find the pin for easy birdies. This one from 131y playing a bit of right wind and spinning right at the hole.

10th hole, solid drive to the middle of the fairway leaving 90ish yards uphill with a blind shot to the green. 54 degree wedge that I thought was dead at the stick and arriving at the green it turned out I was right: roughly sixteen inches for a kick-in birdie. Great start to the back nine!
