Canes finished the 1st period 4-1.

Almost a couple fights so far and the Edmonton goalie got pulled right after making a save that I’m positive will be on sport center tonight.

I think he had an assist. Werenski has 4 assists. First CBJ defenseman to have 4 in one game

Panthers down 3-1 after 2

Oilers have been hard to watch, and deserve their record. Last or next to in sv%, and it is the entire team but definitely including all 3 goalies, and entirely the fault of the GM. Plan A is that Campbell plays his head into shape in the minors. He pitched a shutout last night. But way too fragile. Stu is overwhelmed and Pickard is a proven AHL level goalie. Who knows what plan B is, but there is no apparent commitment to team D in any meaningful way. Including tonight, 18 games of watching us give up odd man and clean slot opportunities over and over ad nauseum.

McDavid is meaningfully hurt, but won’t sit, isn’t driving much play and giving away a lot of pucks. Secondary scoring non existent. Bouchard, at a point a game from the back end, is not outscoring his mistakes. Whole team besides 2 guys, one of whom isn’t really an NHLer (Desharnais), is soft as butter in the sun.

Hopes were so high, but there is no recovery from this.
