The surgeon at the Vet School called us last night. Because of the speed of the call, we assumed the worst. But, he said it is a tumor emanating from Molly's kidney. While it is almost certainly cancer, renal cell carcinomas typically don't spread all that quickly. So, we had some good news. Because of the size of the tumor, the surgery to remove it is quite involved and very risky. The bad is that between the CT to see the exact location and how it might involve other things in that area, the surgery to remove it and the ensuing hospitalization for recovery will be in the neighborhood of $10K. FM.Thanks. I’ve been a mess. I’m a crazy dog guy and this hurts.
Our vet is sending all the images to a surgeon at the Mississippi State Vet School for a second look and more detail on what we’re looking at.
