Have you played Gainsborough mate? It has 2 times 18 hole courses I believe...in terms of the other suggestions...no idea about courses up in that neck of the woods, I'm relaxed.

I haven't no it sounds a great deal just like the Suffolk we played.

The only one that comes to mind is Seaton Carew which is an excellent links course. Play that and maybe another and stay in Hartlepool over night also a good night out. shame they talk funny up there ... Ey? Doc haha

Looks like a cracking course. But they are after a few quid for it by the looks....do we need visas for Hartlepool? Inoculations?:alien:

I would be very very interested in a 1 day thing at the CM. I played the TwentyTen the other week and its a great course. I only live 30 mins away too which is a bonus, and if any of you decided you wanted to stay an additional night there you would be welcome to join me at my course for a round the day after. I play at one of he best courses in the region so I think it would be up to standard for a secondary round.

Hey Mike. Do you play at the Kendalshire?

I would be in, as always, but it will come down to when and how much. I do not really fancy travelling all the way to CM for a one day thing but don't fancy paying for a two day either so as always, you boys sort it, and i'll try and be there!!

I might consider a one day outing with fellow THPrs. I am trying to sort out a Scottish outing but struggling to get replys.

At the moment I would say the best options we have are either Gainsborough or Forest Pines and frankly I would be more than happy at either.

Either location will facilitate us with people who only want to play golf on the first day, so its going to come down to dates more than anything I think.

FYI - Forest Pines have confirmed a cost of £130 including 2 rounds, dinner, bed and breakfast. Dinner wouldn't be so much of a rush this time as we would stick to tee times booked, but I dont know if people would still prefer to go and eat off site or not?

Mav that sounds just the ticket. You choose the date or dates and see how it looks.

Smudger . If you and ur mates play off less than 15 I can give you a good steer for Scotland next year.

I am not going to dignify that with a response ya cheeky southern git :D

If you did end up somewhere like Hartlepool I would be saving a few quid as I could stay at home and just drive over for the golf....l

Well. As ever, I'm happy to play anywhere. I would propose the following.

1. This is radical. Mav281 lives by the Maverick calendar, and therefore the Spring Cup was in summer. How about we get the Summer Cup into, or at least close to the Summer. Late July?
2. As a UK trophy, the Summer Cup should be aimed at inclusive. Therefore, I would suggest the Gainsborough Sunday Driver deal. 60 notes for two rounds, each on a separate course, with accom and breakfast thrown in? That's got to make sense hasn't it? Single day players welcome.
3. The Autumn Cup would probably be October? - so, as an 'in-betweeny'; late August early September, those that want to go hit Celtic Manor for the "GMac-Sambuca Shield". This might be a smaller mini event. For those travelling, a two day event makes sense, with day 2 being on the 2010. However, there is nothing to stop those not too far away jumping on for just the 2010.

My idea is to look to get as many people as possible involved, in either one or both the events. As most of you know, my dream (shared by some others) is to get lots of people playing, lots of people joining the Albatross Club, linking in more with the events that JB puts on, and ultimately getting a Euro/US event set up.

The above accommodates those that those who fancy the big courses, those that can't manage the night away and those that don't want to splash the cash on a big course. All that have been on one of our fledgling events knows how much fun it is to play with fellow THPers, so lets play some more!

Incidentally Mav281, I'm more than happy to pitch in and help with organising - no reason everything should fall to you!

Thoughts?

Cool yeah the boys play off less than 15 so setting up something next year would be ace.

Cheeky mare

With the weather we've had throughout the course of this year, we could have been mistaken for thinking our first outing of the year was summer!

Personally this gets my vote. It's ridiculously good value for money on a couple of decent courses by the sounds of it and it gives us the opportunity to find somewhere afterwards for beers and curry. Also think it's a great idea for anyone who wants to come along for just the day either on the Sunday or the Monday for a round of golf and then a bit of socialising afterwards.

Works for me, definitely happy to come along to this as well assuming we can do a Friday/Saturday or Sunday/Monday as I'm running out of annual leave for this year :alien:

Couldn't agree more buddy - and I think that's why things work so well between the majority of us because we all share the same dream.

Hugely appreciated mate. You have the contact for Gainsborough, so happy to leave that in your hands and we can touch base in due course to confirm costs and get ££ and prizes sorted.

Right o. I'll make some calls tomorrow, then throw some dates up and we see where we go...

It is all about the timing and other outside influences for me, but if I can manage it then I will be there, especially after my first event last week

Gainsborough Golf Club in Lincolnshire - The Summer Cup

Date available - Sunday 29th September / Monday 30th September. (Just about squeaks in Summer!) This is a round of golf on Sunday afternoon, accommodation then another round on Monday morning. Golf, B&B - £60 a head. This is the first week available between now and then other than early July.

There are two apartments - each sleeping 4.

If this sounds good - then I need to 'hold' the apartments in the next day or so. So, I need a core of committed people sharpish. Alternatively - I am looking at local B&B / Hotels.

Day players - this will not be a problem - just need to start pulling numbers together.

So - overnighters:

1. El Bandito
2. ....
3. ....???

£60 is a good price for a couple rounds and accomodation

If, and it is only if at the moment, I can make it, I will be limited to just the Sunday for this one unfortunately as we will have just got back from holiday the week before - I definitely can't do the 2 days this time

For those that are only able to make a single day, do you have a different price? Or will that be the cost regardless?

Provisionally - it'll be 15 quid for a round only...but Ill push them a wee bit. :alien:
All costs are net - ie just to the golf course. We will look at prize funds etc separately...
