Have you ever owned a training aid that you felt was worth the money and made a tangible impact on your game? What was it? How much did it cost and what were the results?

@Canadan remember this topic from Off Course? Did you find one.

Absolutely. The PuttOut Pressure Trainer is without a doubt worth the $40 Canadian ($32 USD) I spent on it!

I’ve had some recent swing struggles and it got me searching for answers, ideas, feels etc..

I recently turned to a Watson hanger I won on IG to see if it could help me square my club face more. It works….kinda, sorta but not much to show for it.

I decided to focus on another aspect of my swing I don’t like - my left arm bend in my down swing. Decided to look for a training aid and found some but not particularly cheap.
I decide to check Amazon for an elbow brace to see what popped up. Ordered a non golf immobilizer ($17) for giggles with little to no expectations.

Went to the range this afternoon and tried it out. Whoa….whoa. I’ve never tried a training aid that immediately showed impressive results. I pured about 80% of a small bucket with it on my lead arm. I’ve never experienced training aid honey moon….so maybe thats a thing. But wow…. I’m insanely excited after what I was seeing. The intersting thing is it was’t my backswing or downswing that felt any different, but my strike and follow through. I guess I dont truly extend through the ball in my normal swing and the brace was sorta forcing me to. I had to saw off the follow through and I kinda reminded myself of Moe Norman with an exaggerated follow through. I’m excited….as to what this could do for my swing with more work.

PuttOut.

Also any putting mirror.

Truly amazingly useful and effective for practice. Enough so that I make all my HS kids use them.

Speed Trap when I commit to using it. You can do the same thing with a towel and a couple headcovers though

I use the Orange Whip to get the proper feel of good timing, tempo and rhythm. Really like to swing it smoothly with my eyes closed and just feel the rhythm and tempo that I want in my swing. Also works well in providing a gentle loosening of golf muscles for the day.

Used a friends smart ball a couple of weeks ago. 3 swings and I was sold. Bought one on Amazon. I use that in conjunction with Zepp tool and really help me with my over the top swing.

i like the smart ball a lot. but i stopped using it, so can’t say for sure what it did for me. i should go back to it...

PuttOut pressure trainer and a putting mirror on a putting mat.

A99 Golf Swing Trainer (or anything similar) for swinging indoors/with limited space.

I own an Impact Snap and have heard a lot of people swear by it but I haven't really figured it out yet.

Just ordered a smart ball, we'll see how it goes.

The PlaneMate from Tourstriker has been a fantastic tool. It is def worth the money if your willing to put the time in.

The Puttout is the other training aid I can recommend. Very worth the money.

My teaching pro had me use the little short Orange Whip to find the right rhythm for my chipping and pitching. But honestly it was more down to his coaching than the weighted club I think.

If I had a lot of money I would get one of those pressure mats to stand on and use it to work on my full swing and wedge game. It’s one thing to get verbal feedback from your coach while he watches you swing. It’s another with you can see your weight moving around (or not!) in real time on the playback.

Puttout since pandemic and now adding the putting mirror (still not 100% sure if im doing it right, but putting is getting better)

Orange whip for sure. Helps me get good reps and keeps my tempo in check.

Puttout is a great tool as well. I haven't used mine much which I need to remedy. Also use the mirror.

I consider my back yard Spornia hitting net and the Country Club Elite hitting mat to be training aids. Combined, they cost near $500 with tax and shipping and have made a huge impact on my game from being able to work on my swing and short game without leaving the house. Best golf investment I’ve made.

The Orange Whip makes a huge difference in my tempo. I swing it nearly everyday for a few minutes.

I have a Kallasay Swing magic I bought a few decades ago. Not really an instructional swing aid, but is does help my flexibility. I use it 3-4 times a week.

I also have that 5i lying around some where that has that hinge thingie in the shaft. I'm not inclined to go find it. Great training aid if you are on the right meds.
