Vegas golf has gone crazy

Some courses started with dynamic pricing. So if they are busy they raise the green fees. If they are slower they don't raise the green fees. Shrinking number of courses available plus more people = limited # of tee times available and they know it.

I played Paiute wolf course , wait till you do a currency conversions from Aud to USD …. It more so

Damn. Wolf Creek can even be had for $125 in the summer and St George is affordable as well. Can catch a shuttle to St George for like $50.

Such a shame.

I mean it is a tourist destination but there have to be courses that locals play that are more affordable and still good tracks.

There are 2 rates at a lot of courses- locals and tourists.

Several courses up here have started doing that. It's ridiculous, but people will pay so they get away with it. Annoying as heck.

Looking to go with a friend next weekend to Vegas and we thought we would drag our clubs out. What a shock to see the rates these places are charging. Perhaps I'm spoiled that an average round with cart here is $50-60. Found Revere for $130 which seems like the best deal. I absolutely love the TPC course there but not at $300! It has tripled since I played it last.
Right now is the high season for Vegas. You can find good deals. Just have to know where to go.

I have 2 rounds there the first weekend in June.

I have tried to get tee times there a couple of times (my boss owes me a round) and we haven’t been able to get a time. Maybe I just haven’t tried early enough. Both times we were running an event at an MGM property and spending a lot of money. Probably not high roller money but I was surprised we couldn’t get a time.

It’s everywhere! Even Branson, which use to be an affordable golf Mecca pushes the envelope of affordability for golf.
They do have some great courses down there for sure! Everything is getting crazy:banghead:

Th-Sunday are invited guests only. Unless you have a host, it’s near impossible to get one those days. M-W is easier but priority definitely goes to hosted guests.

Good to know. I definitely don’t have a host I don’t gamble nearly enough. If we try to do it again I will shoot for a M-W.

It is sad to me that golf courses are pricing themselves out of relevance, at least in my world.

At some point the 'just do it' camp gets a fat eyeroll when the price is more than double what common sense would suggest it should be.
Same here. Being on a fixed income prices me out of a lot of golf courses. I am fortunate that I belong to a club where I pay $275/mth for unlimited golf, range, gym, short game practice area, etc. Golf is pricey in my area with the average 18 hole round (w/cart), costing around $70 on weekdays. If you play the higher end courses the prices are well over $100. Needless to say, I play 99.9% of golf on my home course. I can count on one finger the number of exceptional courses I have played.

Not just golf courses, but equipment is getting quite expensive too.
at least with equipment, it gets cheaper slightly used or out of season.

Pebble out of season is still a maximum joke haha

I went to Scottsdale last year and was shocked how much everything was. Luckily we were there in the summer and WeKoPa was a great deal. TPC Scottsdale was still over $300

This. Holy, moly. We splurged a little given the occasion but I don’t know what the everyday golfer does in Scottsdale.

Not for me, at least with irons and wedges, as my specs are +2-inches and 2º upright, lol.

Supply and demand. I miss when golf was a little less popular.

Please try to interest people in pickleball! :p

Not just the golf that has gone crazy in Vegas. It’s everything! That said, $300 to play a decent championship course as a one off doesn’t seem overly bad to me.

my Uber driver started yelling at me for playing Desert Pines because it was in the ghetto. Honestly a Dye course for 82 in the afternoon in vegas wasn't too terrible.

I was able to book both courses at Revere for $252 for both rounds each. Thought that wasn't to bad. I'd blow through $151 in 15 minutes in the casino so two afternoons of golf will be a nice time. Going to see Garth Brooks at Caesars Collesium Saturday night. @wubears71 I'm a Caesars player and my host hooked us up with tix and room. No luck getting on Cascata though which is $600!
Need dinner suggestions not on the strip/casinos since we will have a car. Best steakhouse or Italian in town.

Also, does any local know the conditions of Revere? Pics and reviews sounded ok.

@milehighgolfer - $600 for cascata is crazy. But not surprising.

There are so many excellent steak houses in Vegas and it’s hard to say which is best. I personally prefer Prime at Bellagio - especially for the view. Lago at Bellagio is surprisingly exceptional Italian! I went in there not knowing what to expect and it was one of my favorites.

Off Strip the best restaurant imo is Sparrow and Wolf; for steak, Primal is great and Mothers for Italian

I am with you. Was in Vegas back in Feb. First, was tough getting ANY tee time. Second, the ones I could get...two that I ended up playing were super disappointing.
First was Wildfire...someone in the thread mentioned painted fairways. Wildfire would benefit from that...you can tell it was once a great track, couple really cool holes but...I kinda think you would need to pay me to play there again.

Then my "splurge" round because I could not find a reasonable price was Bears' Best. Had actually wanted to play it for a while. And on the one hand...the clubhouse is great, has decent to good practice areas...the course itself was...okay but felt...not special but it was priced as being special.

I spend a week or two in Palm Springs, Scottsdale and Vegas most years and even a year or two ago I could find reasonably priced, decent courses in all...these days, I am not even sure I will take my clubs next time I go to Vegas...which sucks for me as I don't really gamble, have zero interest in laying by the pool for hours on end...

But there is a cost in my mind of what golf is worth and they are reaching the point where as you say, they are pricing themselves out of relevance for me both from cost and availability
