We-Ko-Pa - Hosting A THP Event In 2016

For those interested in travel, Phoenix is usually very affordable for flights in our testing from many places across the US.

If you can one stop to any airport reasonably close, the next flight will be short and cheap. Another sweet venue and another affordable trip option - exciting!

True story. I went to Phoenix/Scottsdale on a golf trip around 2010 for five days. On day 1 we played a nice course in Fountain Hills--nothing spectacular, but nice. That first night, I became seriously ill with heat exhaustion, and spent the next two days in the recovery capsule, unable to leave the room. Thankfully, I recovered by the fourth day, because we played We-Ko-Pa those last two days and both courses were phenomenal. (I personally thought they were better than Grayhawk). Moral of the story--HYDRATE like you've never done before. I drank a litre of water every three holes and it wasn't enough! Second moral (for me)--DON'T plan a golf trip to AZ in August!

This is so damn true. One second you're feeling fine in the AZ heat, the next, you start fighting heat stroke. Last time I played in AZ in the summer, the roving cart person forced you to take extra water along with whatever you purchased.

NICE!!! Heard about this place. Time for a road trip!

Oh my
..golf porn. I am throughly excited.

Already had my sights set on the Gauntlet next year and this just solidified it

The courses at We-Ko-Pa are easily two of the top 5 courses I've ever played. Spectacular desert golf, and its a little off the beaten track so you don't have houses encroaching on the course. You truly are out in the desert, with plenty of elevation changes and holes that force you to shape it in different diretions. The conditions of the course are easily the best I've ever played. You could eat lunch off the tee boxes.
Those who get into this event are in for a real treat.

YES, and YES. #1 event I will try and get into now. This course looks AMAZING! Great venue choice

I believe its one of the few courses in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area with bent grass greens and fairways.

Sounding like a broken record by now but that course looks gorgeous. Pics even look fake! Unreal!

Stunning

What a great way to represent some Arizona golf. Simply amazing course. Good gravy do I hope to get into this event!

Wow, that looks incredible!

I want in

I spent a few minutes on their website this afternoon; and the courses just look stunning. I guess I'm saying my interest is PEAKED.

Oh my these courses look incredible.. you have my attention.

I played both of these courses in Nov and they were stunning.
I'll say though that I liked Saguaro over Cholla.
Many people say that Wolf Creek is a bucket list course, I'd say that Saugaro is just one step below Wolf Creek!
Conditions were AWWWWWWWSUM!

Its funny too, because having played all three, I think We-Ko-Pa is better than Wolf Creek.
I was fortunate enough to play Bandon, Wolf Creek, We-Ko-Pa, Hammock Beach and the Hideaway in a 6 month period and Wolf Creek might have ranked last in that list. And the crazy part is, its a fantastic venue also.

I cant believe this year we have We-Ko-Pa, Hammock Beach and possibly the Hideaway again all on the THP Events schedule for 2016.

Plus 1. Take it from someone who lives in Arizona..... keep the beers for after the round.

I've played both as well. We-ko-pa is quite a bit ahead of Wolf Creek.

Jesus this place looks so lush. I've got Bly heard of this place on THP and it looks better than I could have imagined

It is every bit as awesome as the pictures depict Freddie!

Phoenix is also really easy to get into and out of, especially since they moved the rental cars over to the hill.

Playing golf with the #ZooCrew on those courses will be a blast!

I'm always amazed at how lush desert courses are and how well laid out they are. I live in state with a ton of course and very few can stack up to the courses I have seen in the desert. Don't get me wrong, I love our top tier tracks. But there is something about the contrast between the courses and the mountains. And the way they flow over the land like green carpets

We-Ko-Pa has the benefit of tribal water rights so they can typically use more water then a course under local/state restrictions.

If you play there, don't forget to get the posters that they give out for each course too!!!

I totally agree Freddie. I remember the first time I went out there I actually bought a cheap wedge - all of the guys in my group used it when we hit out of those waste areas / washes, etc. Totally wild to see a course pop up in the middle of a desert - especially the top flight ones like this one!

I just looked over the resort on line and it breath taking. The pro shop looks hug. The fairways are rolling and there is some good elevation changes. Tough not to want to play in the event so I can play the course.
