Your favorite style of pizza

I came into this thread completely ignorant about pizzas types? I really didn't know there was Detroit or Maryland? At least what they are calling them

But, I will have to go with NY style, I like a really crispy thin crust. Detroit second, but only if im prepared for a carbohydrate coma afterwards.

I once asked my boy @KingVeo what he thought about Chicago style pizza. He said in the most epic JOYSEY voice "dat chit isn't even a pizza pie, its friggin lasagna!" I said so your saying you don't like it? He said " get da fvck outta heeeaa wit dat chit!" I laughed so hard. Everytime I hear or see the words "New York Style vs Chicago" I think of that

NY for sure. All styles can be good, but when I think Pizza, NY is the default. Also, if you have never had St louis style, give it a go. Crispy crust/square cut and provel (going off memory from a decade or so ago) was really damn good.

You misspelled little Caesar’s when you wrote Detroit, lol

Neapolitan pizza is the answer here with some spicy sausage
This is a local place. This stuff is amazing. The burnt cheese edge makes the Detroit style. It can be round too. It's basically pan pizza.

Ah yes, spianata (not sure of spelling).

Chicago pizza is not pizza, there is no argument.

The Detroit Photo is Sicilian pizza.

Your also missing Greek pizza, which is a northeast staple, but again is a loose interpretation of the word at best.

Additionally, if a conveyor belt is involved in the cooking of said pizza. See yourself out.

Thin crust brick oven pizza is the best Followed by NewYork/Boston style. Coal/wood fired pizza also excellent, where town zoning allows.

I can eat most any pizza as long as it's not cheese. I may second guess Chicago. Looks like pizza casserole.

Wait, so fill me in here, what makes a pizza?
Clearly it is not dough, sauce and cheese.

Literally any of those would be my favorite if it’s in front of me. Pizza for dinner now!

New York, followed by ...
New York
New York
New York
New York

then if there's no other food available, maybe consider one of the other styles.

I refuse to choose since I'll eat anything with meat and cheese on it.

I could really go for a hawaiian pizza, the king of pizza.

I'll eat any one of those but my preference is New York style. That's what I think of when I think of pizza.

NY style first then deep dish Chicago.

The Detroit style is just Little Caesers deep-deep dish. LOL!!

Wouldn’t turn down any , but Chicago if I had to choose

Wtf is Detroit? Is that just pizza hut?

Neapolitan (with meat) is the correct answer.
Yeah...Neapolitan all day, every day.

It's also the only one I can make.

I tell myself don’t be comic book guy here, but alas here we go. Taste aside (which I would also gladly eat), both Merrium Webster and the Encylopedia define Pizza as ‘Flattened’. Deep dish is more akin to a casserole, pie or similar

Merrium-Webster
“a dish made typically of flattened bread dough spread with a savory mixture usually including tomatoes and cheese and often other toppings and bake

Britannica
“ Pizza, dish of Italian origin consisting of a flattened disk of bread dough topped with some combination of olive oil, oregano, tomato, olives, mozzarella or other cheese, and many other ingredients, baked quickly—usually, in a commercial setting, using a wood-fired oven heated to a very high temperature—and served hot.“

I'm a fan of all pizza, but having grown up in Chicago, I have to say that it's a tie for authentic Chicago style THIN CRUST (deep dish is for tourists,) and Neapolitan (I can follow my nose, blindfolded to some of my favorite spots in Naples.)

*EDIT* I'm not saying that deep dish is bad, I love me some Lou's, but true Chicago style pizza is thin crust.

If you look up Grandaddy, it has a different definition too, but I dont think anybody is going to argue it : )

Chicago deep dish, New York style and socialism.

These Grandaddy dinner conversations and threads are going to be fantastic, you have yet to be exposed to the full extent of horrors of this teams food debates, just be thankful this wasn’t a debate on cottage cheese and it’s many uses.

Now THAT’s funny.

This doesn't mean whether you think cheese is the best or not. This is about which style of pie is your favorite.

If you had to pick one style of pizza (of those listed below), which would it be?

New York

I know these aren't near all of the styles / types of pizza, but just looking at these mainly.

Personally, I like all four of these, but tend to go with the Neapolitan style right now. Had a really good Detroit style in Telluride, of all places a couple of years ago, but it's just hard to beat the natural flavors you get with the simple ingredients on a Neapolitan.

Great photos and they all look excellent, but NY all the way for me - folded lengthwise and on the go.

NY is my favorite although I can eat any pizza if it's done properly. I'm damn glad to be out of Sacramento where great pizza was impossible to find. We have Pizzeria Lola a few miles away from us in Edina MN that only serves NY style and made the New York Post's list of 17 best Pizzerias in the country a couple of years ago. Interestingly, the restaurant was opened in 2010 by a Korean transplant.

Texas style yall!! Okay I made that up so I will go with the classic NY style pie.
