Read any Event Recap Thread, and that is the TRUTH.Cali and other places are not too far right? THP Events are pretty grand and most would tell you would be worth a short travel.

Santa Barbera can be rather difficult to get to for those traveling. Just as with the east coast, we do try to pick locations that are easier to fly to for those that want to travel. Each time I have looked at flights from multiple cities to Santa Barbera airport it seems crazy high. With multiple stops.
Nobody flies to Santa Barbara except Oprah on her private jet. Us locals drive the 1-1/2 to lax.

Not a bad drive from LA (scenic and just as long if not shorter than other events) and there are a lot more flights to SB from LAX nowadays, but it's just a suggestion.
I think Portland would also be cool, but no idea about their golf.
And I'm sticking with the coast, as I don't know if we should include places like Tahoe, Vegas, Phoenix or Tijuana (there is actually an Alistair MacKenzie course there).

I would love to see that happen. But flying in the San Fran and then driving to Napa could be a downer for many people.Seattle would be badass, so would Napa.

While I agree the drive is not too bad, and certainly scenic, what other events have been that far of a drive?
OC, AC, CT (although I don't know how flights are to Hartford), those are the only ones I could think of without looking at the list. Yes AC has an airport, but it's a push with SBA. For OC though, definitely a longer drive.
And let me preface that I'm not fighting for SB. You guys know how to set these up.

I'm sorry I don't agree on driving after flying. A 1-2 hour drive is not bad if your willing to fly. I don't want to play golf at the airport, Their locations are usually not ideal for courses.

How bout a couples event at the Silverado resort in Napa Vallley? Like a Love is in the Air west coast edition with a visit to a winery or two.
Those are Invitationals. I guess I should have prefaced that response with grand events. We try to make all grand events travel accessible and as mentioned in the 1st post, if an event heads that way, it will not be an Invitational.
With that said, I do not think that CT nor AC were as far a drive than LAX to Santa Barbera in my experience. But that is just one guy obviously.
Im very sorry you feel that way, but it is a rule we live by here. Our grand events will always be travel accessible and driving 2 hours after flying is not something we consider ideal.
We never rule anything out, but it is a standard we shoot for and those that have been to our events seem to have enjoyed the locations and accessiblity that have been offered.
But Santa Barbara does in fact have an airport. It may not be the cheapest to fly into but its not horrible. I think if cheap flights are essential, the options come down to San Diego, LA and Sacramento. I just engaged in a fun exercise... its cheaper to fly to San Diego from Orlando than from my little town (& from Orlando is non-stop)! WTH!
Colorado? Beautiful area and accessible.
I think that the way THP and the Sponors sets up these events the people will come no matter what. I bet an event in Alaska would fill up eventually haha.
