THP West Coast Event - Coming?

West Coast event? Just tell me when and I'm there!! All the courses/locations sound great and I am certain a good one will be selected.

How bout a couples event at the Silverado resort in Napa Vallley? Like a Love is in the Air west coast edition with a visit to a winery or two.

Santa Barbera can be rather difficult to get to for those traveling. Just as with the east coast, we do try to pick locations that are easier to fly to for those that want to travel. Each time I have looked at flights from multiple cities to Santa Barbera airport it seems crazy high. With multiple stops.

Nobody flies to Santa Barbara except Oprah on her private jet. Us locals drive the 1-1/2 to lax.

I'd like to think that I would do anything in my power to go to a West THP event but I can't commit. I wasnt able to make the Vegas event so this would sure be a treat though.
My wife isn't sold on my going on solo golf trips anymore (and who could blame her) so it would have to be something she could tag along for me to even try. I selfishly spent a good chunk of our holiday fund on The King so a golf trip next year probably isn't in the cards for me.
Who knows, a lot of things can change before next year.

Seattle would be badass, so would Napa.

That is what I was speaking of. Flying into some place and driving 1.5 hours (on a good day), is a tough task for those traveling in. It has killed many location on the east coast as well.

Not a bad drive from LA (scenic and just as long if not shorter than other events) and there are a lot more flights to SB from LAX nowadays, but it's just a suggestion.

I think Portland would also be cool, but no idea about their golf.

And I'm sticking with the coast, as I don't know if we should include places like Tahoe, Vegas, Phoenix or Tijuana (there is actually an Alistair MacKenzie course there).

While I agree the drive is not too bad, and certainly scenic, what other events have been that far of a drive? Genuinely curious.

Two weeks ago I might have just overlooked this thread and thought to myself "eh who cares there's no way I'm going to the west coast for anything". Now I can't think of a place that's not worth traveling to for a THP event. I may be out of line for thinking the way I did before, but I was just ignorant to how amazing a real THP event really is. I'm going to take the field of dreams approach here. If you schedule it, we will come. Not everyone has the means to drop everything and travel across the country, but those who can make it work will. And I hope I'm one of them

I would love to see that happen. But flying in the San Fran and then driving to Napa could be a downer for many people.

Agreed, might be a good Love is in the air location lol. Plus Walnut creek is there

OC, AC, CT (although I don't know how flights are to Hartford), those are the only ones I could think of without looking at the list. Yes AC has an airport, but it's a push with SBA. For OC though, definitely a longer drive.

And let me preface that I'm not fighting for SB. You guys know how to set these up.

I'm sorry I don't agree on driving after flying. A 1-2 hour drive is not bad if your willing to fly. I don't want to play golf at the airport, Their locations are usually not ideal for courses.

Those are Invitationals. I guess I should have prefaced that response with grand events. We try to make all grand events travel accessible and as mentioned in the 1st post, if an event heads that way, it will not be an Invitational.

With that said, I do not think that CT nor AC were as far a drive than LAX to Santa Barbera in my experience. But that is just one guy obviously.

Im very sorry you feel that way, but it is a rule we live by here. Our grand events will always be travel accessible and driving 2 hours after flying is not something we consider ideal.

We never rule anything out, but it is a standard we shoot for and those that have been to our events seem to have enjoyed the locations and accessiblity that have been offered.

We have some solid options. Pumpkin Ridge hosted a US Am (last one Tiger won?). We also have some interesting potential tie-ins with Nike and Adidas headquarters being in town, as well as Clicgear and Leupold. But we are up here in the corner of the country, maybe not the easiest travel for everyone else.

I am eyeballing Phoenix and all those courses that people have mentioned. I will take desert golf, casinos, sunshine and some Fupresti home cooking for the win Alex.

Wine Tasting I might know a guy or two or 1/2 graduating collage class that could help out with that my company has 3 tasting room in Napa valley

I think that the way THP and the Sponors sets up these events the people will come no matter what. I bet an event in Alaska would fill up eventually haha.

Ok gotcha. The distinction was lost on me. Sounds like Bandon might be out too.

Personally, I'm good with most recommendations, assuming everything lines up for it. I grew up in SoCal and love getting out west. Lots of good golf I haven't got to out there, so I'm game for a lot of it.

But Santa Barbara does in fact have an airport. It may not be the cheapest to fly into but its not horrible. I think if cheap flights are essential, the options come down to San Diego, LA and Sacramento. I just engaged in a fun exercise... its cheaper to fly to San Diego from Orlando than from my little town (& from Orlando is non-stop)! WTH!

I think there are a few more. San Francisco is not out of the world expensive. And then of course you have AZ, NV and multiple other states. The good news is that there are so many great options that we think if there is enough demand, we can put on something quite special.

Colorado? Beautiful area and accessible.

Plenty of spots in Colorado around the Den area. Unfortunately some of the better course are a drive.

Yeah. That one would be a tough sell out. Probably take all of 10 seconds instead of seconds

Just think though if it was held in June. 24 hours of daylight. You wouldn't be able to get this crew off the course.

Except for a buffet of Alaskan Crab.
