Seriously? While they are a bit down right now, USC is definitely a marquee matchup. One of the top programs in College Football for quite some time now.

Their not even the best team in LA! So yes, marquee is not an accurate description of the USC football team.

No point in having tunnel vision while talking about a program and looking at only 5 years, especially one that has been on top as much as USC.

I tend to agree. It got me to go look up their history. I did not realize that despite that 7 year stretch (including one that did not count) that they have been average to above average for the last 34 years. It actually surprised me quite a bit. Some really good years, some pretty awful years and a whole lot of average years. Learn something every day. Im sure I noticed it at the time, but thinking back from now I expected a lot better.

The definition of "marquee" is very popular and well known. I didn't say they were the #1 ranked team.
That's how I took marquee as well. "big name" is different than "being the best".
Is Texas a marquee game for most teams? Absolutely, their name carries clout.

Yeah, surely they will hammer something out. Pretty impressive that SEC has gotten all those other agreements this far before football season.

Yeah, I just figured that some of the agreements would need the pressure of those first couple weeks of football games to get hammered out.

As if Nebraska didn't need motivation, Coach Fitzgerald certainly helped add some! The truth is, Nebraska is fairly boring, anyone who's ever driven down I-80 can attest to that!

One Big Ten football coach is getting attention for what he said about Nebraska football fans in a Chicago Tribune article on Tuesday.
Northwestern Head Coach Pat Fitzgerald spoke with team supporters after a golf event, asking them to fill Ryan Field during the Homecoming game against Nebraska on October 18th.
In the article he's quoted as saying, "[Nebraska] is a pretty boring state, so they're really excited to see Chicago... I talked to the state senator about putting state troopers out on I-80 [to block them]."
Fitzgerald was Northwestern's head coach during a game in November in which Ron Kellogg lobbed a Hail Mary pass to the end zone with four seconds left on the clock. The ball bounced off a Northwestern player and into the hands of Jordan Westerkamp. That brought the Huskers at 27 to 24 victory.

Fitzgerald is just trying to get non-alumni fired up to come to games since Northwestern has the smallest enrollment in the B1G by far. Same problem Vanderbilt has. Of course, it is a bit of bulletin board fodder.
Nebraska is a bit boring, but I was stationed at Ft. Riley, KS for a time and it is a pretty boring drive on I-70 anywhere west of Salina until you hit the mountains. OK City to Albuquerque was a pretty boring drive too as I recall. Of course it was dark.
