Do You Think You Hit The Ball Too High?

I can't get mine off the ground sometimes. I wish I hit too high.

Every time this thread comes back in my unread section I think "hell no!"

Nope, low bullets

I like this picture. The ball is circled in red.

Not a chance. I prefer to refer to my ball flight as vertically challenged.

A couple of years ago I went to watch a regional long drive contest. The longest hitters launched them at angles that looked to me almost like a pop up. But they just kept climbing and climbing til they were basically out of sight. It was a launch angle I couldn't get my head around. The longest one that I saw was 385 and I have no idea how high it went, but it was easily twice or more the height that I hit my driver.

Having stood next to RF and Poulter-Weenis on the range, in no way do I hit the ball too high.

With the driver yes. Everyone as the UST event saw it. Pretty easy to hit it high with a 20-23 degree launch angle at times. Danny at UST has corrected that through equipment mostly with his awesome fitting.

NOPE...

Opposite problem. Worm burner and rabbit rapist specialist here.

Unexpected benefit of a fitting for me was seeing how MUCH shaft lean I was delivering at impact - now working on on reducing that lean, which in turn should deliver a flatter AoA and a bit more height....

My irons are pretty close to what is considered optimal now. My wedges still have the stock DG Spinner shafts in them and they are way too high and I'm loosing distance because of it.

I thought I was with the driver, but through experimenting with shafts/loft settings I realized that I apparently wasn't. I found more distance with the flights that looked too high. I haven't been on a monitor in a while to see what the actual numbers are from the experimenting.

I could use more height. Even when I hit the ball what I think is high, I'd like to see it higher. With the driver I am pretty close to ideal, though. Thanks trackman!

I hit my irons with a lot of height. I don't think it is a problem, even in wind. A well struck ball fights for its line. For me the issue comes if I balloon a shot, which doesn't mean it necessarilly goes higher. A balloon shot means I hit the ball with more wrist and casting, and that results in a high but weak shot. Maybe I'm off-base but feel this is the case from driver to wedge. Hit 'em high, as long as they are hit well. My 2 cents.

I hit the ball very high, but my distances do not suffer. I hit longer then average and quite like the advantage of this situation

I don't mind hitting the ball high, especially in my long irons.

I hit my irons very high. I used to prefer the low, boring shots that came with my DBD w/ Kiyoshi White. I realized I was giving up distance when I switched the head out for an XR. Trajectory is much higher and total distance is up quite a bit.

Through lessons and work I've gotten mine to come down to "ideal" per the numbers and I can flight it down when needed. The biggest change and benefit has been getting a proper LA.

Is there such thing? There is too short, but I like a high ball flight. This is coming from a low ball hitter tho.

Proper fitting should take ball flight into account. If you can knock the ball down on a windy day then your flight isn't too high.

Yes yes there is and there are many cause for it, poor fitting equipment swing flaws

Oh to hit the ball too high ... I would love to hit it higher ... my driver is 12.5 and struggle to get any height.

Living in Texas, most people like to keep the ball low, especially the driver.

Not me ... in comparison, I flight it high. Not as high as the pros, but higher than most other guys I see.

Too high? No. I can get it up there though, but it's on a good path. Don't think I have ever "ballooned" a ball before that I can remember unless there is wind and it gets caught up.

Used to think mine was high till I see my buddy who flies it 10 feet higher and 40 yards longer with his irons. I'm ok with what I got. Mid penetrating flight, most the time the cross wind doesn't touch it.

I always heard that the DG Spinners were lower launching. Interesting.

As a guy who delofts every club through the zone in a big way I'll never be a high ball hitter.
Yesterday in windy conditions I played with a guy with a great swing and a tour-like trajectory except hr couldn't lower it no matter what he tried. He missed a ton of fairways and greens.

High flight is awesome and sexy, but if you can't control it its more of a curse I think.
