Me too with Axis & Allies. Played a lot of that in HS and college.I was an Axis & Allies fiend for years growing up. I used to also be an avid Diplomacy player, but a Diplomacy playing group can only stay together for so long before distrust and paranoia makes the game unpalatable.
I once topped a drive in front of thousands of THPers.
That was cool
I did that at RTJ.
KC Invitational last year. Fortunately it was in the shamble format, and I had this guy named Nate as a partner hitting next, I guess he's a big deal or somethingSame. First Morgan cup.
I got this.

Dude I was shaking like a leaf and unfortunately the first hole was a short sharp left dogleg and this was back when I could murder a golf ball so my drive would have been about 60 yards through the fairway so I had to take the little 3w.KC Invitational last year. Fortunately it was in the shamble format, and I had this guy named Nate as a partner hitting next, I guess he's a big deal or something
I found out I have dyslexia in college. I'm a great reader so I laughed it off at first, but when I later read about the fringe symptoms of it I realized I fit all of them. Some really interesting stuff in here, I really don't have that much to share on my end though. I am dyslexic, but I really don't struggle with it to a point where anyone notices.
I was born a poor black child.....(someone will get this line)
I am part Japanese, Chinese and Jamaican. I am one of four children (2 girls and 2 boys) I majored in Psychology and Business in college. Turned pro in '94, taught at a few nice clubs across the US. I'm a foodie and love photography.
My wife can do that too. I don't know how she does it, but within a few seconds she can tell you what day of the week any date is. Baffling to me.Like Cookie, I have/had a number skill, although it seems to be diminishing as I get older. I can tell you what day of the week a date is (even 6 months down the road) without looking at a Calendar. So right now without looking it up, I can tell you September 12th is a Monday.
I jumped out of a perfectly good airplane at 11,500' on my 50th birthday. My brain blue-screened and rebooted during the first 0.5 seconds when I realized that I didn't reach that age milestone by falling great distances.
The chute opened.
Let's see...
- I'm the oldest of four boys.
- From birth through high school, we lived in 10 different cities and 5 total states...and my parents were not military.
- I'm approaching 10 years now living in SE Tennessee, which is a) the record by 5-6 years of longest I've lived in one place, and b) the closest I've lived to my birth city since I was 2 years old.
- I broke my arm in 6th grade on a class trip at Monticello.
- I skipped two years of math between 6th and 7th grade and went directly into Algebra. My wife uses my retained math skills to calculate multiple percents off while shopping.
- I finished 8th in the state of WV in the National Geography Bee the day before the team I was on won the state Odyssey of the Mind competition to progress to world's in Boulder, CO.
- My degree is in Chemical Engineering, but I work with SAP software at the same company that hired me as an engineer out of college 16 years ago.
- In my interview with this company (for an engineering job, mind you), I told the HR Rep interviewing me that I wasn't sure I wanted to be an engineer anymore...and despite that they hired me anyway. I tried to warn them.
I've been in Customer Service or Technical Support for the last 20 plus years. The last 10 and a half have been with the nation's oldest and most trusted cookbook publisher as technical support for their software and websites. That's right, I get to help kindly little old church ladies run their computers. The customers that know that they don't know anything about computers are the easiest to help. The customers that think they know computers, even a little bit, are the biggest PITAs.
Besides golf, I have been fishing and hunting as long as I can remember. Internet recon for a big fishing trip lead to a non-profit organization and online community called the Nebraska Fish & Game Association (NEFGA.org). The NEFGA promotes fishing, hunting, boating & camping in Nebraska. I volunteered to help moderate the forum and now have been on the Board of Directors for several years. The NEFGA also led to me getting my Youth Fishing Instructor certification from the Nebraska Game and Parks and helping with youth and family fishing clinics across the state. Thrill of seeing a kid catch their first fish is awesome! It's un-explainable really. It's just as enjoyable as catching a fish myself if not more so! If you find yourself in south central Nebraska and want to catch a fish, shoot me a message. I'll do my best to get you on fish. Oh and I also have a fishing gear addiction, so I can supply the gear too...
