Callaway Epic Flash and Epic Flash Sub Zero Driver

Ugh, my driver has been stuck at the "clearing agent" since Friday. With no movement, I doubt it will show up tomorrow as initially forcast. Still shows tomorrow but they added the word tentative to it.

No matter, here's the upcoming weather. Minus 23 as the high temp on Wednesday. All I can do is dream of golfing whether the driver is here or not.

So, this happened today. The line is a lot more subdued in person. Great looking club. The smoke shaft feels pretty stout too. Kind of wish I would have gotten a 60 gram version so I had a different weight class to try. I am eyeing an OG blueboard on eBay though that I can pick up for about $50. I may pick it up and let the Pro Orange 70TX, Diamana DF 70X, Smoke 70X, and Blueboard 63X do battle. I don't tend to over power shafts even though I generate a lot of speed. Think more of a whip than a hammer.

The dog is not as excited as I am for this to show up.

Mine just got delivered, but I am in the Caribbean so he wife gets to look at the box....she loves looking at club boxes :at-wits-end:
 
Meanwhile, I sit backordered 1-2 weeks still. I was hoping for Friday too :(
 
first round with flash is in the books and while its going to take some adjustments to get completely dialed it, i'm pretty happy with how it went today. The flight, feel, and sound at impact is quite interesting and i'm looking forward to more rounds and range trips tinkering with cog adjustments.

What’s the set up now? Also any thoughts on forgiveness? I know you’ve played Torrey a bunch, did you notice mishits ending up further than normal?
 
I haven't seen much written about the sliding rear weight on the Flash SZ. Is it working? If u like the look of square at address, does the position of the weight in the back help with a fade or draw? For Some reason I tend to leave it out to the right on the LM I have been using. Usually a "right" miss is not me.

The F9 is a bit better for me so far although I want the sz to win out due to hosel adjustment, sliding back weight and head shape. F9 I get to hit with the Atmos 6x...which is a nice shaft, would love to try it in the sz. Maybe at the outdoor spring demo.

I like the Smoke a lot for that reason. It’s super stable but not as brutal to swing has the HZRDUS black. I tend to get fit into that blue board profile so I’m in the Tensei with mine.

I agree with the line up top. To me it pops more in pictures but blends in more at address.

And we have always wanted a bulldog.

It works. I posted in my initial thoughts somewhere in the thread.

I couldn’t play the Epic SZ bc of the fade bias. The Flash SZ with the weight between center and draw kept me from going right. The APW definitely works.
 
I want to get out so bad and hit this driver again. I love the feel the heat off the face. Unfortunately our courses are mud holes right now. A friend of mine got a face full of mud on a fat fairway shot this weekend.

It does work. I was having trouble getting the face closed at impact earlier on and was hitting blocks/small fades right. It took moving the AWT fully to the heel and switching the cog to D for me.

Thanks, I think it turned out perfect. Super impressed with build and ship time - custom in hand prior to launch day is nuts.

Beautiful Driver there, mine is at the house also but just regular old paint job with a Blue shaft...but if it fly's like in the fitting I don't care what colors are on it.

My jaw just hit the floor!!! You know how big a fan of blue I am...I’m so jealous. That thing is beautiful my friend, well done!
 
so i've learned that it's just not possible for me to draw the ball anymore with anything but a hooded iron and even then it's less than 50% it will actually draw. Having said that, the APW weight does as advertised and I noticed the left to right flight increase or decrease as i adjusted the weight from heel to toe.

Agree. If it can straighten out the SZ for me, it’s working as advertised.
