Bleat. Bleat. Motorcyclist died in a car crash in Los Angeles. Crush all motorcycles. Rules require me to stop there.
It's like saying the best way to stop drunk drivers is to ban everybody from driving. Seems legit.

It may be the year the blue states decided to play a massive game of chicken against the Trump admin to see who caves first. IMO I don't think the blue states have any idea that they're playing with fire with their own base.

I can certainly tell you that Hollywood folks that live near me that I know, or my friends know, are not happy with this shutdown. Some of them have monstrous monthly expenses that can be well over $100k / month. They were banking on continued work. And it's not just actors, it's all the support staff like camera folks, directors, producers, casting folks, key grips, writers, even down to Kraft services. That's why we haven't heard much from that crowd in terms of being pro-shutdown.
We have been lax. We have asked you over a dozen times. Each one is ignored. At this point you have given us no choice but to remove you from the forum temporarily.

As a former American History teacher, I’ve thought about this question.

My hope is that when future generations look back on this event, that they say that these were Men & Women in a moment of great crisis, stood up to the Politicians, Decision Markers, and The Establishment... And saved their country.

My answer: first of all, it’s a once in a lifetime event and it will be written about. I hope whoever writes it gets past the political stuff and ideological fighting and instead emphasizes how people sacrificed for the common good. There are stories from WW2 about metal drives, victory gardens, food rationing, etc. I hope we see stuff like that.

In the spirit of “follow the science”... we’ve got a nice little experiment going with several states - my own included - basically being lockdown central, and we’ve got others, such as Florida and Georgia, that have opened up. Let’s follow the results and use what works.

A few posts back someone asked, "How will history look at the year 2020?"

The TV ads will have some lawyer saying, "If you or a loved one has suffered personal injury or death from over exposure to hand sanitizer or disinfectant during the Covid crisis of 2020, you may may be ENTITLED to compensation". Contact the Law Office of "Dewey Frikem and Howe". Time is running out, call today.

Something else that gets overlooked in our little slice of jingoistic pie... There are other countries getting this, too. Some haven’t even been impacted...yet. Others are in even worse shape than us, relatively speaking. Places like India that could EXPLODE in days if everyone “opens up”. They have .5 beds per 1000, we have almost 3. It isn’t just us that have to beat this.

Durango Herald

A Cortez, CO, man with a BAC of 0.55 died of ethanol toxicity, according to the county coroner, but he also tested positive for coronavirus. The State of Colorado is including him in the COVID fatality count, anyway.

“COVID was not listed on the death certificate as the cause of death. I disagree with the state for listing it as a COVID death, and will be discussing it with them this week,” [county coroner Michael Deavers] said Tuesday.

“The person who died did not die from COVID-19, but they did test positive for the virus,” said county public information officer Vicki Shaffer. “The state is reporting that death as a COVID death, but our health department wanted to let people know that even though the person did have the virus, they did not die from it.”

The state health department did not immediately respond to The Journal’s telephone calls and emails requesting comment and clarification.

Much more than half the deaths from "corona" have been in nursing homes. Many were sent to their deaths by brilliant governors like NY and NJ that sent corona infected patients from the hospitals back to the homes to kill everyone else. This is a manufactured crisis born out of a 2 week lock down to make sure the hospitals weren't overrun as they were in socialist countries like Italy. Then it was determined this was the window of opportunity. Keep the lock down going to kill the economy and get to mail in balloting. Reshape the country in their perverted communist view via mail in cheating. When liquor stores are okay for the last two months but churches have to stay closed this wasn't about the bad case of the sniffles. This was to get to mail in voting. Biden is horrible. A violator of #metoo and in the center of the Russia scandal being uncovered by Richard Grennell. They aren't going to allow Trump to win again.

They will open up for the summer. Give the masses their "bread and circuses" then all the sudden the manufactured "second wave" will come and mail in balloting will be required in swing states.

I feel for y’all that live in Michigan, but I personally hope the Governor of Michigan continues to over play her hand.

Unlike some of the pro-lockdown people, I’ll admit my reason. It has something to do with the number 270. 😉

Why do some people revert to ad hominem attacks? Calling someone a misogynist or racist just because they have a different viewpoint is over the top. Don't discuss the person's differing viewpoint, instead attack the person and appeal to emotions rather than reason or logic. A lot of this seems to be going around.

We have asked repeatedly to stop with the politics throughout this thread and believe we have been fairly lax.

This is a golf forum and a good one. This Can be discussed without the constant barrage of politics and we have said this to those posting on both sides.

Having worked in pharmacies and clinical pharmacy for years, Pharmacists absolutely have the right to ask for the diagnosis on prescriptions, and are waaaay more informed and knowledgeable of medication treatments that most physicians. They have to be.
Now that I am on the insurance side, I will say that just because an insurance company refuses to pay, does not mean the pharmacist is not allowed to fill the prescription. They can fill it and the patient can pay the non-insurance cash price. If the pharmacist refuses to fill something, it’s usually because there is an issue. They have to follow their Hippocratic oath as well.

Hydroxychloroquine is a great drug for its intended purpose, as mentioned above, and with monitoring. On my side, our conversations around it and medical team have been very cautious and expressed that they don’t believe it to be an effective widespread treatment.

Maybe without the combination of Zinc with the Hydroxychloroquine.

Hi Desmond-19 ...

JDax Out!!!

Guys.. Holy ****.

It’s not going to be said again come on quit making all the political comments, backhanded or not. And for those of you who are stirring the pot, and then reporting it, yeah we see that too. And it’s old. No I’m not sure if this hangover I have is making me more irritable than normal, or I’m just sick and tired of this crap. Act like adults, or gets locked down, and I will ban your asses for the next two weeks.

Effective in some, yes, but widespread? Not enough has been done to prove it out.

From an insurance company perspective, in this capitalistic society, if hydroxychloroquine + zinc was the path, I’d be thrilled. Imagine only having to pay ~$100 a claim versus $13,000 - $39,000 or more. It would help our bottom line for sure, but our medical team is advising us to start moving on.

While I understand and fully agree with what you're saying, I do remember a thread here about "What are you going to spend your stimulus check on?", and there were plenty of replies saying golf clubs, simulators, home improvement projects, etc. There were others who said they were going to save it, invest it or spend it on necessities.

But I agree in that I know plenty of people who desperately needed that money and it wasn't squandered on luxuries.
Wasn’t the whole point of it was to spend it on the economy though? It was an economy stimulus check, not a personal stimulus per say. Paying bills is perfect, as that helps the companies who supply it and employ others, but saving it doesn’t really help the economy in the same way. If you didn’t need it to pay bills, the idea was that you’d buy something with it and help the economy.

Membership at our local semi-private club has seen an uptick in the last couple months, thanks to the pandemic. People who played there without joining decided to sign up since it has temporarily reverted to members-only play.

Stimulate what economy? When those checks went out, nothing was really open. Other than Target and Walmart for “essential” big screen tv’s😀

Here's a funny story for you...

Last night, we had what was my last board meeting on the Board of Governors at my club. We decided it would be best to host he meeting in person for two reasons -
  1. Properly transition the board from from the 2019-2020 board to the 2020-2021 board.
  2. Give the staff an opportunity to use us as a sort of soft opening to test out new procedures before we open our doors on May 18.
Of course, technically, we should not have been meeting since it was before the May 18 date that came down from the county. So, our meeting was set to begin and the GM was pulled out - the county health inspector just showed up out front! We were a little freaked out thinking someone tattled on us and the county was out to make an example of us since we are you know "privileged that doesn't think rules don't apply to us."

It turns out, the county health inspector is a member and was picking up his curb-side to-go order on his way back to the office - he was picking for himself and three other inspectors. He was actually happy to see we were doing a "soft opening" with just the 15 of us so we are ready.

That is how on edge everyone is about getting this all moving again and the"fear" we have in the over reaching of the local government.
