Golf the Noun vs Golf the Verb

I will be honest. My biggest grammar cringe is one someone says "these one's".

I say I'm going to play golf

Don't think I have ever said I'm going golfing at all

For me its "footer" vs. "footing" there's really no such word as "footer"...
footer
  1. footing (noun)
  2. in word processing, a line or lines of text, typically consisting of the topic, date, page number, etc., printed at the bottom of each page of a document
-footer
a person or thing (a specified number of) feet tall, high, long, etc.: used in hyphenated compounds [six-footer]

I wonder what serious bowlers think of this.

From what I've been told the English language is the only one in which we cut a tree 'down' before we cut it 'up'.

Personally, I usually 'play golf' as opposed to 'go golfing'.

I believe all word forms of golf, like the "F" word (which I tend to use a lot while golfing), are generally acceptable across the board
Speaking of the “f” word, and I assume you meant FLOG which by the way is GOLF spelled backwards.
When I leave the house with my pimp outfit on my wife says “you’re flogging again today?” Come to think of it, it does describe my participation more appropriately. :p

I just wanna golf the golf.
