I recently picked these up after some wedge testing and absolutely loved the fee of these. I won’t get into the whole cast wedge vs forged wedge...or maybe I will...I definitely noticed the difference on both feel and spin. Granted, It was indoor launch monitor but spin was definitely higher (for me).

But the spin was not what attracted me to the wedge. I like the leading edge of my wedges to sit as flush with the ground as possible as that inspires confidence for me. When the leading edge sits slightly higher I feel like I am going to skull the ball if I don’t really get down after at. The leading edge of these sit SO close to the ground. Dang near flush.

Second, the stock shaft offering is the Nippon Modus 125 wedge shaft. I feel is a premium shaft offering at a competitive $149.99/wedge. Add the fact that these are “forged” adds a great value.

Lastly, yes these are forged. Say what you will about cast vs forged wedges but I can definitely feel the difference. Softer and more muted sound. Also, these feel a little head heavy which I enjoy. Allows me to feel where the head is at the whole time. It’s addicting to hit these over and over.

Honma did get into the CG placement with these and will keep updating this thread as I spend more time with them and truly get to test them with different shots and conditions and see how the CG placement on each loft affects playability.

Here are some in hand pictures...

I’m very much curious. Especially with that stock shaft.

It’s definitely a heavier shaft compared to the popular stock s200 wedge shaft. 127g vs 133g respectively. Feel wise though, i don’t think there is comparison.

Side note: can a mod please add an “L” to “world” in the title. Thank you!

I like the shape. If I recall correctly, these were the #1 wedge in one review.

I haven’t seen much in the review department for these. If you remember where you saw that I’d definitely like to see it

Finally got around in with these today and I’ve got to say I’m pretty impressed. Was able to use a lot of the 50° for full swing and the 58° around the green. Didn’t get to use the 54 for as much as I wanted. But the 50° from 120yrds out is absolutely amazing. After about my third full swing with the 50° on the course I started planning my layup shots to that 120 yard distance just so I can keep it in the 54 because it’s absolutely automatic for me. The 58° is great around the green for those high soft shots. I used a combination of urethane balls and surlyn balls just to see how it impacted the spin and while the urethane ball did stop much quicker there was plenty of zip on the surlyn balls with these wedges. With a 50° and a surlyn ball I was getting a few feet of back up on almost every shot. This is a heavier feeling wedge for sure. Which I think suits my wedge play as it forces me to get through the ball and not baby the swing. I’m excited to keep playing these and checking out the versatility.

That looks pretty sweet.

Love the looks of these!

This is what the W/S Staff model wedges should have looked like!

The wedge wizard joined honma golf last year and has done some cool things with these wedges..

That first one is fricken fire.

Got a range session in with these this week and another round today.

A few additional thoughts:

The 50deg really continues to shine. On full swings I am getting about 125ish. I also used the 50deg on longer chip shots around the green and it performed there as well. Turf interaction and on both types of shots was fantastic. The feel of these wedges is superb. A dense feel, heavier head and modus shaft all pair great together. I used the 54deg for a handful of full swings and came up short of my expected distance a few times. But pitch and chip shots was again stellar. The grind on the sole allows for versatility as I haven’t had an issue (outside user error) that I can attribute to wedge underperforming.

Those are gorgeous. So pretty I’d be loathe to see them used at all where they would risk being damaged.

The custom wedges are a little gaudy for my liking! I have the 115 Modus wedge shafts in my wedges. Love them!

They are very kewl looking clubs, but knowing Homna probably very pricey. o_O
