I <3 GAWLF
Hey THP! Bear with me as this may just come out as a tangled mess of words of experiences mixed with a PSA.
I just had my irons, my beloved Apex that I was given as part of the original #Grandaddy back in 2013, measured for loft and lie at a local golf shop. It's been nearly 4 1/2 years since I was fit for a 2* upright lie in these irons and, surprisingly, my 7 iron that I tested with was spot on perfect on the lie board. I had not experienced any known gapping issues, but wanted to get them checked anyways as it appears they will be gamed for another season.
That being said, there appears to have been some consistent trends of movement the club heads have made in the length of time I have gamed them (please note, these came directly from Callaway so they could have come off spec, but I doubt it). For example, that 7 iron was only 1.5* upright and .5* strong loft. Nearly every single club measured 1.5* upright from standard (.5* short of what it should), while the 5 iron and AW measured a full 1* strong in loft, the rest less strong or on spec.
It got me thinking, with the loft jacking argument and everything surrounding that, are THPers getting lofts and lie checked on their irons? Are THPers aware that heads, especially forged iron heads, can experience movement through play or even come in off of specifications? If you do get them checked, or even if you don't, at what degree of difference from your specifications would you get the heads bent back correctly?
Curious to see everyone's thoughts.
