I mean he is the one who said "I'd play better if they'd let me play drunk" And got a 6 month ban for being drunk in public one night.lol , mind did think of him, when read comments .
Iam unsure of that , ban (?)I mean he is the one who said "I'd play better if they'd let me play drunk" And got a 6 month ban for being drunk in public one night.
I was thinking the same thing...it's beyond ridiculous.I dont see why betting on a Tour you are not on is something to suspend someone for.
My take on sports gambling in general:
There's a reason it wasn't legal in many states for many, many years.
It opens the door to corruption at all levels.
I think the potential for inside information is a major issue here. So many players played college golf and friendships are made.
99% of the time this will never happen, but if it happens once, it will raise concerns.
I imagine there are rules in place for family members and relatives, but I don’t know.

This is going to have to be dealt with eventually. It is is the same for fans betting on golf and affecting outcomes of tournaments by heckling, hassling, yelling or distracting players that may be jeopardizing their bets. It has already been happening at tournaments. I'm not keen on betting on golf unless it is designed to not have any affect on outcomes at tournaments.
I know what you are but I think they taking money to play with fire. I can't believe there won't be some major gambling/sports controversy at some point. Human nature hasn't changed.Sadly that ship has sailed, especially for those that consider it “economic development”
Just another term for "selling your soul to Satan"Sadly that ship has sailed, especially for those that consider it “economic development”
The NFL suspends players longer for gambling then basically anything else other than murder.
As others have mentioned, the idea that players are gambling on their own sport compromises it's integrity. They have to be incredibly strict on this. So i don't really have an issue with it.
These guys can gamble on 100 other things, fantasy football, basketball, monkey knife fights....just not golf. It's not a huge ask
Here's where your logic falls through. In a "friendly" game, the only money at stake is that which is bet among the group. There is no "purse" at stake. If you are a player, and I imagine most on here are, gonna need you guys to stop playing those five dollar nassau games, as well as cease and desist on all other betting on golf.
Anyone found to have placed a bet during league play is hereby suspended for 3-6 months, regardless of league affiliation.
No wonder pickle ball is becoming so popular
It wasn't legal because congress basically wrote some legislation that gave Vegas a monopoly on sports books. Some folks decided to contest that, and the SCOTUS saw that what congress had done was basically create a rigged game.My take on sports gambling in general:

One thing that I just can’t stand and triggers me more than anything else is double standards and hypocrisy..
The tour is collecting millions in sports betting. Will have sports books at events next year, then does this.. it’s ridiculous..
